A Few Firsts

Yesterday I ran my first 5 mile run since having Maddux. At least I think it was five miles. My Garmin died about half way, but I think I judged the distance correctly. It may have been a little more. It was uphill the entire way back. Ouch. I’m just glad I got it done! I have my parents to thank. I ran in their neighborhood while they played with M. I’m excited to build my mileage for the ZOOMA Florida Half now. I’ve finally got some confidence going, so I need to take advantage of it.

Yesterday afternoon Maddux had a belated four month wellness check up. He is in the 85th-90th percentile for height, weight, and head circumference. Perfectly healthy little boy! The doctor suggested that we offer him a bottle every two hours during the day (to help with sleeping) and to start slowly incorporating solids. His tongue thrust reflex is almost non-existent, he can sit up, and he seemed “ready”. He enjoyed his few tastes of cereal to say the least. I’m glad we were at my parents for his first bites of food, because he was such a ham. I know the topic of when, what, and how to feed babies is controversial. I’m just going with the doctor right now. If it doesn’t work, we’ll change it. After his cereal, he tried to eat his burp cloth. He’s an animal.

Last, but not least, today was my first time being featured on Healthypage. Check it out if you have some time! You should browse the recipe section while you’re there. :)

Any “firsts” for y’all lately?

  4. Congrats on the 5 miles post baby. You are doing really good at getting yourself back into shape. I don’t know if I would be so motivated. I can be kind of lazy. :-)

  6. So cute! Love his little face. Congrats on the 5 mile run! I walked 4 miles worth of hills yesterday and I am incredibly sore today! In my defense I was pushing the buggy the entire time and that really makes hills intense! I figure if I get used to doing hills with the buggy then I will fly up them without it. Keep up the good work!
