Happy Presidents’ Day! Today I’m home from school, but the reasons why are sort of complicated. First, we were supposed to have the holiday off. Then, we were supposed to make it up because of our snow days. Now, we’re off again as people repair damages from the ice storm. So, yeah. The weather has been nuts lately. We actually had an earthquake Friday night and felt the aftershock yesterday afternoon. All I’m saying is, I feel like a character in Day After Tomorrow. Just kidding, but y’all know this is all huge stuff for us southerners. You’d think the world really was ending around here. I mean, I guess it could be. I wasn’t born omniscient, you know.
I have to say, though, that the one thing I’ve done a decent job with lately is remaining active. One of my goals this year is to live a life that just naturally incorporates health and fitness. I don’t want to stress over it, but I want to make sure it’s included as much as possible. Other than a few small scheduling setbacks, I definitely think I’ve been achieving that. PS: when I say “scheduling setbacks”, I mean that there are just not enough daggum hours in the day sometimes.
There are several reasons why it’s been pretty easy for me to remain motivated:
- I like to sweat. Is that weird? I figure I might as well be honest.
- I have an active husband and a child that is constantly on the go.
- I am lucky to have some of the cutest workout gear on the planet.
Recently I was sent a pair of Asics Gel Noosa Tri 9 running shoes in exchange for “styling” them and taking part in a contest (full disclosure at the bottom of this post). They are seriously beautiful. The brighter, the better. Am I right? I’m pretty sure I can be seen from space in these.
Need more information about these shoes? “The high-energy design of the updated ASICS® GEL-Noosa Tri™ 9 GS shoe combines a sleek silhouette with go-fast GEL-DS Trainer® tooling for optimal performance on race day or weekly workouts. This women’s athletic shoe sports an open mesh upper that boasts seamless construction and perforated, removable insole for enhanced ventilation. The Rearfoot GEL® cushioning system and a reinforced, stitched toe cap ensure comfort and durability for the demands of serious runners. The ASICS® GEL-Noosa Tri™ 9 GS racing shoe is finished with an abrasion-resistant rubber sole for rugged wear and trusty grip.”
Say what? I always try my best to understand all of the shoe-lingo, but I tend to just get confused. I do know that these are great neutral shoes for a variety of workouts. They are built for triathletes, but they are perfect for all runners. They are super ventilated, easy to slip on and off, and are extremely tough to be so pretty. I like them for longer runs because they are more stable than some of my other shoes. For all your foul-weather runners, they dry quickly and grip surfaces well. I wish I had owned them the time I ran through a freaking river during a race. That would have helped. Oh, and did I mention that they’re pretty? Because they are. They even make me feel like striking an awkward catalog-model pose. (Pictures courtesy of Joyful Bee Photography.)
Okay, so that’s not why I had a full-on photoshoot in the middle of a neighborhood. I’m actually taking part in a contest hosted by OnlineShoes.com and Asics. I’m basically hoping that you guys love me enough to go vote for me and the way that I “styled” the shoes. It’s not completely selfish, though, I swear. When you place your vote, you’ll be automatically entered to win your very own pair of shoes! It’s a possible-win/possible-win. I might win the contest and you might when a pair of shoes. Selling people on things isn’t my strong-suit, if you can’t tell. But, seriously, I would really appreciate if you took a second to place a vote for me. I might not have an ice cube’s chance in hell, but it’s worth a shot.
***To vote for little ol’ me, head on over to the contest now!***
I’m not yelling at you up there, I just felt compelled to use all caps. Can you forgive me? I’m a little excited because I’ve never really been in a contest like this. Newbie alert. The voting will take place until 2/28, and they ask that you only place one vote per household. Oh, and if the Gel Noosa shoes aren’t your thing, OnlineShoes.com has a ton of other awesome athletic shoes for women. Feel free to check ’em out.
Question: Have you ever entered and won a contest? HOW DID YOU DO IT? I’m serious. I’m terrible at this stuff. Thanks again for your support, and I hope you have a great Monday!
**Full Disclosure: I was sent product in exchange for taking part in and promoting this contest. I was not compensated in any other way. As always, all thoughts and opinions are my own!**
