Y’all, I still haven’t gotten around to recapping this weekend in Montana. I kind of overdid it on the picture taking, and going through them is overwhelming me. I’ll have something up before I turn 80. Maybe. Until then, let’s talk fitness. Running was difficult for me up there in the mountains, but it definitely reminded me that I need to get my behind outside a little more often. Outdoor workouts are where it’s at, am I right?
Recently I shared one of my favorite ways to stay fit where I live. While I love taking fitness classes, I also appreciate sunshine, fresh air, and not having to pay to sweat. Oh, and I kind of just love the fact that everyone you see seems to genuinely love being active.
My top spot for running outdoors is the Greeneway in North Augusta, because it ends up going right along the Savannah River. One day I’d love to get my runs in by the ocean, but this will do for now. Totally the same thing, right? A girl can dream.
Anyway, I used to shy away from running so far from my neighborhood because of water and fueling. I don’t like to carry a ton of stuff when I run, because I’m lazy like that. The best thing that ever happened to me was realizing that my cute lil’ Propel liquid water enhancer fit into the pouch of my handheld water bottle. Total game changer.
I really am the worst at hydrating during longer runs, and this helps me want to drink my water. It seriously makes fountain water taste a whole lot more palatable. Now I love my workouts by the river that much more.
I’m happy to say that I’ve run for fun, done my best to race, taken family walks, and had a blast down here. What I love about working out by the river is that I’m constantly inspired to try new ways to stay fit. The other day, I saw people water-skiing, wakeboarding, and even stand up paddle boarding. I had plans to try that last one recently, but it was rainy and gross the day we were supposed to go. I’m not that gutsy. Plus, alligators and stuff. I pretty much need a beautiful day like this to entice me to risk my limbs like that.
The best part about getting outdoors for your workout is definitely coming back to the comforts of home, which always includes an ice cold Propel. It provides vitamin B, and antioxidant vitamins C & E, to bring you back to life after spending the day sweatin’ under the sun.
In case you were wondering, yes, that’s my backyard. And, yes, we have plans to make it look less crappy really soon. I swear. I guess yard work will be in my future workout plans, huh? Better stock up on my favorite drinks, y’all.
Tonight, however, I’ll either be running or hitting up my favorite gym. Tough decision. Oh, wait. Isn’t it Cinco de Mayo? If I don’t work out, I bet you can guess what I’ll be doing. Nachos for everyone!!! What about y’all? Margaritas or burpees tonight? Or both? 😉
