Happy 35 Weeks, little one! 5 more weeks, or 35 days, to go. Thirty-five-freaking-days. It doesn’t seem possible that we’ll be meeting him that soon.
I’m definitely feeling more tired this week, and I think it’s really showing in the picture. Oh well, what can you do? It looks like someone punched me square in the eye. Dark circles are sexy, right? Thankfully next week is my last week of school. I’ll have a few teacher work days, but that’s cake compared to watching over a room full of fourth graders. I can see the light: summer is almost here!
What is baby up to? According to MSN Health, “Your baby already weighs about 5 pounds, 5 ounces, but this week begins your baby’s most rapid period of weight gain — about 8 to 12 ounces each week! Fat is being deposited all over your baby’s body, especially around the shoulders. Because of this increasing size, your baby is now cramped and restricted inside the uterus — so fetal movements may decrease, but they may be stronger and more forceful. If your baby is in a headfirst position, his or her head will rest on your pubic bone in preparation for labor.”
Total Weight Gain: I’m assuming 35 pounds. So far, my weight gain has been exactly the same as the number of weeks. Guess I’ll hit 40 pounds… eek!
My Body: I’m so ready to regain some control over this thing. I feel totally detached from my body, especially when I catch a glimpse of it in the mirror. I can hardly recognize myself! I still have intense heartburn, can barely turn over in bed without breaking a sweat, and don’t know what to do with this darn nausea. I’m hoping that he’ll “drop” at some point. I really think it would help! (But then I’ll have to pee that much more often. Sa-weet.) Anyway, my rings still fit, I have no new marks or lines, and I haven’t noticed any real changes with the bellybutton. My butt and thighs, however, continue to grow exponentially. Not a fan.
Maternity Clothes: Everything I wear is maternity except for: most of my dresses, tanks, and sweats. I refuse to buy any more maternity clothing!
Cravings: Ice, ice, baby! I can smash a cupful of crushed ice in minutes. I heard that ice cravings could be directly related to iron deficiency. Anyone else heard of that? I don’t think I’m running low on iron. I think it just feels good to eat something cold when it’s so hot out. At least, that’s what I’m telling myself.
Sleep: I’m still not really sleeping. I get up every hour or two, and naps are just flat out impossible. I miss sleep. A lot.
Baby Items Bought/Received: So. much. stuff. Our house is now jam-packed with the baby’s things. I guess that probably won’t change much for about 20-something more years. He’s here to stay! 😉 We’re still on the hunt for a good glider/rocker. We want something comfortable, decent looking, and not 5 million dollars. Any suggestions?
Best Baby Moment: Realizing that he will be here NEXT MONTH!
Goals: You know what? For right now, I am tossing all my goals to the side. They are just stressing me out. At this point, we have everything we need to keep a baby alive, comfortable, and happy in our home. Who cares if everything is “perfect”? I want to try to enjoy these last few weeks!
Worries: Ditto with the worries… out the window! Well, I’m lying. I know I’ll still stress out, but it helps to just say I won’t.
