Happy Tuesday! (Today is our two year wedding anniversary. I’m contemplating a mushy, lovey dovey post for later, but I might spare you. We shall see…)
Before I get into the title of today’s post, I’ll recap yesterday’s events. It’s actually really bizarre that they didn’t include “go to work”. I guess I’m a stay-at-home mama for the summer. 😉 That means I did a lot of baby wrangling, nap war battling, snack eating, snack clean upping, and tickle fighting. Seriously, that stuff made up the majority of my day. SAHMs, is it always like this? I was exhausted.
Not too exhausted to hit the gym, though. When Ryne got home, I headed to the gym for a Spin/TRX class with my usual gym buddies. We even played around afterwards, practicing yoga and doing some pushups. WHY?! My body is done. Oh, and my hair isn’t sweaty at all. Eek.
So back to the reason for today’s post. Do you ever watch Wheel of Fortune? It’s one of the few things we pick up with our sweet rabbit ears. Anyway, there is a category called Before and After. Two phrases are blended together in the middle to create a new one. For instance “Trash Can” and “Can Opener” would be “Trash Can Opener”. (I know that is a terrible/odd example of that part of the game, but our trash is full and I want a new can opener. Welcome to my brain.) Anyway, when I had the chance to be an Ambassador for the race series Pretty Muddy, I immediately realized it was meant to be. Run Pretty and Pretty Muddy= Run Pretty Muddy. I know. Freaking awesome. What a fortuitous combination. (Full disclosure: as an Ambassador, I registered for free. No other compensation was provided.)
Enough of about me and my quirks. Let’s discuss the race! Pretty Muddy is an “women’s only” mud run series. They describe it as “Your Friends. Your Pace. Your Fun” and “Pretty Awesome. Pretty Fun. Pretty Muddy.” Um, count me in. I love the laid-back approach to a mud run. I know a lot of them can be super intimidating, but Pretty Muddy is all about having a blast.
According to the website: “Pretty Muddy was started by a couple of businessmen who were inspired by their wives – their pretty cool wives. Watching their partners juggle kids, households, carpools and careers – while still having time for the occasional ladies’ night – got the men thinking: These awesome women deserve more time for themselves. Time for balance and time to be themselves without their families. Because even the greatest mom, businesswoman or grandma sometimes needs time that is just her own. Like those pretty cool wives, today’s women are looking for a way to get together and focus on friendship, fun and fitness – without their significant others, their kids and the stress of the daily grind. With the help of their wives and an incredible team of creative and motivated people, the two businessmen created an inaugural series of events called Pretty Muddy. More than a mud run, it’s an exciting women-only event where you can let your hair down and have fun! And that’s pretty awesome.”
Question: Have you run in a Pretty Muddy event or do you have any mud run tips? I’m all ears!
