I typically try to squeeze in at least one run while we’re in Hilton Head and this weekend was no exception. The one thing I did switch up? The location. I waited a little too long on Saturday before heading outside and the thought of 8 miles on the hot, reflective sand with no shade forced me into looking at other options. Am I ridiculously dramatic? Of course I am. Anyway, I love HHI because there are so many great running routes to choose from.
This weekend’s run took me winding through Palmetto Dunes. It was the perfect mix of shade and scenery, and I actually ran it a little quicker than I originally intended. I had to slow down because I was getting a little too close to my goal race pace. Small miracles, folks. My legs are finally remembering what to do again.
The only thing, in my opinion, missing from the island is a great unpaved trails. Other than, you know, the beach. That said, it is completely possible that I’ve totally missed them. If you’ve found some good ones, let me know.
What was I able to find? The perfect spot to take a new picture of the boys. Did they not nail the whole sibling photo thing?
They got a little silly with Dad, per usual.
And then the sun peaced out on me. Of course.
We tried again in the sun, but I swear it’s impossible to get three people looking at the camera at once. Family photographers, I salute you.
When I ask my kids to look at the camera and pose, I get things like this.
Let’s see. What else did we do at the beach? We ate,
almost lost this kite,
ate some more,
and sat in a huge chair.
Exciting times, my friends. Exciting times.
