The theme of this weekend was “cram everything we’ve been wanting to do into 48 hours”. Since I’m going out of town in a few days, we wanted to make sure we spent some time together. I mean, we’re pretty much always together but you know what I’m saying.
We hosted our own puppy adoption. This sweet little girl found her new home, and we were actually a sad to see her go. Puppy fever definitely hit our house hard. I’m pretty sure Maddux still thinks she’s in the backyard waiting to play with him.
We ate a lot of good food. We went out with Ryne’s parents Friday night, ate lunch at my parents’ Saturday, and had our friends over for low country boil last night. My mom bought scallops for me since everyone else had steak. I’ll take it.
We took Maddux to his first movie. We took his three-year-old cousin with us, too, because we’re extra nuts. They were great, and Ryne and I even admitted that we liked Frozen a lot. I have some new Disney songs to learn now, so I better get on it.
Things I didn’t do this weekend: blog, work out, or win the lottery. I never do the last one, but still.
What I’ve learned about myself is that I choose the weirdest times to take breaks for working out. This Thursday I’m headed to Los Angeles for what is basically a weekend long fitness centered photo shoot. Of course this is a good time not to work out. Hmm.
The truth is that we just had so much other stuff to do that it just wasn’t a priority. I could worry about how I’ll look in the pictures, but I’m choosing to just trust that people will appreciate that I just look like me. The real me takes breaks. If I had spent the past month tirelessly working out, I might have looked fitter but it wouldn’t have been “real”.
Let’s be real, though. How in or out of shape I am isn’t the real issue here. The real issue is that I generally look like this when people tell me to pose.
Basically, I’m just asking you to tell me I look fabulous no matter what happens. That’s what friends are for, right? Lie to me and we’ll be best friends forever. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got to go watch the Oscars. Because, you know, priorities.
