I have been dancing around this issue for a while. You might have noticed, but I haven’t been sharing many pictures of the inside of our house or the contents of my plates lately.
Both are an absolute disaster.
Ever since Maddux’s birthday party, I’ve let it all go. At first, it was because I truly felt that I deserved a little down time. Don’t want to mop? Don’t! Relax. You’ve been working hard. Want to eat that entire leftover smash cake? Go ahead! It’s disgusting and covered with baby slobber, but you want a treat!
I’m feeling the effects of both decisions. My house is an utter embarrassment, in my opinion. It’s just been hard to get motivated to to the entire scrub down, ya know? I usually do a little a day, and that works perfectly for us. I kind of quit, though, so a total-house cleaning is in order.
The same thing with my food choices, I usually make small, healthy efforts each day. Every good decision counts, right? Lately, I’ve been replacing lean protein and vegetables with processed food and absolute junk. Again, I’m really feeling it. I feel tired, easily irritated, and sluggish.
Time to get my butt in gear. I need a life cleanse, if you will. I started by cleaning out the fridge and pantry. That was killing two birds with one stone, because it needed to happen for the house and for my health. My fridge and pantry always look different after parties, because I feel the need to have things that I know people like: chips, soda, etc. Does anyone else do that? Anyway, it needed to go, for now at least.
Boom. Fresh, whole, delicious foods for the week. I didn’t buy any meat other than a baked chicken for Ryne because we have some frozen mahi and beef that need to be eaten first. I have some tofu, beans, and boiled eggs for my protein. Protein is one of my biggest issues. I know you get a ton from random vegetables, but I still like to bump it up. I have been falling into a protein powder and “faux” meat pattern lately. That’s not how I want to get the bulk of my protein. So for now, I won’t be purchasing those.
Speaking of trying to stay away from things, I tried my best to limit excess sugar and alcohol recently. What did I learn? Tell me I can’t have something and it makes me want it even more. I’m still not going to purposely buy a ton of that stuff, but I’m not going to say I can’t have them. I don’t know if it’s just my personality type, but I would probably be better off focusing on what I can have. You know what’s delicious? Freaking salads chock full of goodies like olives, heart of palm, beans, tomatoes, cucumbers, and feta cheese. Yep, I grabbed all that. I also got a ton of veggies to roast, which I’ve already done. I went ahead and hard “baked” some eggs, too. If I complain about not having anything to eat this week, feel free to punch me in the face.
I feel like I’m totally back on my A-game as far as meal prep goes, but my house is a whole ‘notha story. Anyone want to scrub my counter tops? I will pay in blueberries. 😉 Okay, okay. I’ll get around to it today. At some point.
There is one last embarrassing thing I haven’t mentioned yet. Yesterday I didn’t shower because I was sure I’d end up working out. (Plus, I was having a rough day with little man. We ended up crashing on my parents’ couch again. My dad has saved the day twice now.)
I never worked out. I never showered. Are you ashamed of me? I am, too. Today, I am bound and determined to get my life together, y’all. I’m going to finish the last of the meal prep, clean my daggum house, and go to CrossFit. Mock me if I fail, okay? PS: I’m also still searching the internet for the cheapest quality running stroller. Hit me up if you find one!
Thanks for letting me vent for the 1,387,934th time on the ol’ blog. You guys are the best.
