Day Late and a Workout Short
| January 26, 2013 | Posted by Presley under Fitness, Post Baby Body, Running, Workout |
I was planning to give a recap on my workouts each Friday, but I just didn’t get around to it. There wasn’t much to update you guys on anyway! It’s been a rough week around here with a sick little one, sleep training (which we started last night, after he was better of course!), and a busy work week. Yes, I’m making excuses for myself per usual. Hey, whatever works.
Anyway, I’m really trying to aim for four to five workouts a week now. This week, I only got around to three. Whoops! The only days I accomplished anything were Thursday, Friday, and today (Saturday). At least I finished strong, right?
You saw Thursday’s booty blasting workout already, but I’ll fill you in on yesterday and today.
Yesterday was an upper body day. I focused mainly on my biceps, which I really want to build back up! I skipped cardio again yesterday, because I was still feeling lightheaded from my cold and didn’t want my family to find my body crumbled up behind the treadmill. Dramatic, I know. I could have just walked, but I drank a glass of wine and tried to teach Maddux how to sleep in his crib instead. Wine is a must for sleep training. It helps if the mom drinks some, too. I’m jokingggg.

This morning I was READY to run. We all got a good night’s sleep, so I knew I could push it a bit when it came to sprints. It has been A LONG time since my legs have seen 10 mph on the treadmill. I don’t really miss it. That junk hurts!

I ended up really enjoying my run, though, so I wrote it down to share with you guys. It might be super easy for y’all, but it left me soaking wet and gasping for air. Gosh, I really can’t cut out the dramatics. I need to work on that.

I guess that’s why they always tell you not to look to the future too much, because you can’t predict it. Working out is the same way. Plan and plan, but the workout gods will laugh in your face. The parenting gods are very similar. They hate me. Maddux slept SO well last night that I’m sure they are going to convince him to torture us tonight. Such is life.
Question: How did your week in workouts look? Have a favorite workout from this week? INSPIRE ME, PLEASE!

I would be soaking wet and gasping for air too. I’m dramatic too so no worries. Also, I had wine last night–it totally helps with my sleep training

haha wine is so important!
Looks like an intense workout! I really don’t like the treadmill, rarely run on one, but I could probably modify this for outside or the indoor track!
Also, just wondering did you mean 30 seconds where it says 30 minutes?

Haha yes! I’ll fix it! I’m a mess.
Don’t be too hard on yourself. Sh*t happens and you just have to move on and get back on track. I can relate because just about my whole month has been like that. I finally got started this week on my half marathon plan, but I’ve got some endurance building to do before starting speed workouts.
That being said, I love your treadmill interval workout! The pace changes so frequently and quickly you hardly have time to realize how hard you’re working (at least I hope so in case I try it!).

I’m such a type A freak that I can’t stand to have my plans change. I need to relax! haha Glad you are getting your runs in!
I read your post as I had just decided *not* to work out and then I saw your treadmill workout and decided to try it! I can say that I never got close to the 10 mph (I would have had an asthma attack and died) but it was awesome! Keep them coming!
YAY! I’m glad I could inspire someone for once, haha… now you need to pay me back and make me work out tonight!
Sign of a true runner is when you critique yourself and know you came up short. There is nothing wrong with that! I treat each week as a new beginning. I approach each training run individually and just do the best I can. To be honest, your week would be the envy of many people in this crazy country! Good work!

So true! Thank you!
My workouts were all to sparse this week…When I’m not in the mood though or don’t make it to the gym I like to do a quick, Blogilates, pilate video on youtube! Your sprint interval workout looks awesome. I can’t wait to give it a try this week.

I need to use YouTube more often. Somehow I always forget about it!
I had a bit of a mess of workouts this week. Got them all in but probably had too many rest days in between due to visitors. Man I am sore today though. Shoulders, tri and chest. Ouchie.

Awesome job with your interval training, and of course focusing on the positive is so much better than the negative anyways. Interval training is so great for speed! I can’t wait to throw some speed training into my next race plan!

I was feeling a little like Maddux the past few days and opted for no workout since Thursday…hoping to get back in the groove tomorrow!
