It’s true. Pink is an often overlooked component of running. I think at least one pink item should be worn at all times.
Last night, one of Ryne’s friends came over to visit, so I took the opportunity to head out on a run. I wasn’t expecting any miracles, but I was pleasantly surprised. I’ve been having trouble running in our neighborhood (aka the hills of death), but I managed to survive them last night. I ended up running a little over 3 miles in 26:55. Not too bad! I ran the same one mile loop three times, and each time I got a little slower. There is one hill in particular that likes to eat my legs for dinner. Here are my splits: 8:29, 8:54, 9:18. Trust me, it could have been a whole lot worse than that. I know I didn’t break any land speed records, but I’m still proud.
I think there are a few keys to my “success” last night. First up, new pink stuff to run in. My Sweat Pink stuff came in the mail and I was ready to try it out. There is one pack of pink laces missing in this photo, because I had immediately re-laced a pair of shoes. Love.
Too much pink? Nahhhh… Not enough. I don’t know why this picture is so blurry. I guess I’m so fast the lens couldn’t keep up. Yeah, that’s gotta be it.
Another factor was definitely the fuel samples in my Kona Kase. I tried one of them out and I swear I felt better. Even if it was totally a placebo affect, it worked. That’s all that matters.
Last, but definitely not least, was one of of my new Chickbands. That sucker did not budge the entire time I was running. I have never found a headband that worked for my awkward peanut head. For real. I could actually focus on running and quit worrying about my hair. No, I do not think I’m attractive from this angle. Or any angle, for that matter.
Today, I’m heading off on a field trip with my third graders. I seriously hope my run last night didn’t drain me of all my energy. Keeping up with them is tough! After work, Logan and I are going to buy TUTUS for the 5k this weekend. No, I wasn’t joking when I mentioned that. 🙂 Tomorrow morning we’ve got to get up bright and early to drive to Columbia for the race, fair, and bar hopping. I’ll miss Maddux, but I think this is exactly what I need right now. I might even wear my skinny jeans out! Oh yeah, it’s that serious. What do y’all have planned for the weekend?
(PS: Our internet was out for a while, hence my absence. How did I ever live without the world wide web? I’m surprised I didn’t have a panic attack. I think I rely on technology a little bit too much…)
