I don’t know about y’all, but Friday seemed a long time coming this week. We had a lot going on, but the kicker was when we realized our toddler had pink eye and a sinus infection. Y’all. He couldn’t even open his eyes when he woke up on Wednesday. Poor kid. He’s totally back to normal now but I think I want to put him in a plastic bubble from now on. That’s normal, right?
On top of that, I just feel like I’ve been out of the blogging groove for a few weeks now. It seems like stuff just keeps coming up instead, but I guess most people just refer to that stuff as “life”. 😉 Anyway, this week hasn’t been a total bust. I found some new things that I’m pretty obsessed with, so there’s that. Always a silver lining. Always.
OPI Polish in Cajun Shrimp
This was such an impulse purchase this week, but I have to give a shout out to the color Cajun Shrimp. It’s a pinkish-reddish-orangeish color. <-And this is why I don’t work in the nail polish industry. I took Maddux to the doctor on Wednesday and we stopped to get his prescriptions on the way home. I swear this OPI polish just jumped straight into the cart, along with dry shampoo and a dinosaur toy. When I blow money, I like to mix it up.
Starbucks Iced Coffee
This is probably a terrible purchase on my part, but I’m blaming Maddy. She had this in her fridge one of the times we visited them, and I finally saw it in my hometown Kroger this week. I say it’s a bad idea, because I’m addicted. I have coffee every morning, but now I have it every afternoon as well. Someone set up an intervention for me, okay? I can’t get through this alone. I love it because it’s JUST coffee. You add whatever sweeteners or creamer you’d like, in whatever amounts you’re feeling at the time. Today I want all the sugar.
I don’t know about y’all, but getting pointless texts makes my day. The only thing Ryne could have done better in the following exchange would have been to add about 37 emojis, because they make everything funnier. I swear I can effectively communicate in emojis only, but that’s really beside the point. If you have dumb stuff you want to text to someone, I’m your girl.
The Metro Market
The Metro Market in downtown Augusta might be my new favorite place. I mentioned that we stopped there this weekend, but I didn’t elaborate much. They have everything you’d expect from a nice convenience store, but they also have a full menu, serve yourself fro-yo, a pretty legit beer selection, and wine by the bottle or glass. I might just move in.
Express Jean Legging
I randomly bought these High Waisted Ankle Jean Legging a while back when I went sale shopping, and I’m so glad I snatched them up. I am 100% not on board with high-waisted shorts (hello, adult diapers), but I have to admit I like these pants. I don’t think they give me the dreaded mom-butt look, so please don’t tell me otherwise. It’ll hurt my feelings. These also hold me together after a big meal. I mean, they come up to my belly button. I freaking love them. And I’d also like to add that it’s hard to photograph yourself in black jeans and, no, I didn’t wear my shirt like that.
Let’s just say I’ve been a little out of sorts this week. I have been doing a terrible job of letting little things get to me. Nothing happening to me right now is all that bad, but I’m just not doing a great job of managing my daggum’ emotions. Hate those things. 😉 Anyway, I read this quote last night and it came at the perfect time. I’m always in control of how I react to certain situations, but I wasn’t acting like it recently. In retrospect, I feel like a total tool. My life is not in shambles, but I was letting insignificant things tear me apart. Time to put a smile on and remember that life doesn’t actually suck. Who’s with me?
Right now Maddux and I are eating our after school snacks and discussing the many life lessons presented on Disney Jr. You know, like sharing your favorite toy or going to the potty when you need to. It’s deep stuff, y’all. I think we’re going to be getting some football action in later this weekend, but that just depends on the weather. I’ll check back in when I get a chance! <-I’ve been saying that a lot lately, huh? Have a great weekend!
Question: What was your latest impulse purchase? One day, when I grow up and become Beyoncé, I want my answer to be a private island.
