Hudson turned four months old on May 28th, so it’s about time I shared how he’s been doing. I keep forgetting I have a blog, but I don’t want to stop posting these updates. I’m lazy and haven’t kept up a baby book either, so I need to jot things down somewhere. My plan is just to print these suckers out in a year and call it a success. Anyway, this is how Hud the Stud has been doing lately…
Likes: Now that it’s always nice and warm out, Hudson loves to be outside. Unfortunately for him, it’s been a little too hot lately for him to stay out longer than a few minutes at a time. He also loves holding super serious conversations with the fan, laughing at his big brother’s attempt to entertain him, splashing bathwater all over the place, and holding hands. And by holding hands, I mean his own. He always looks like he’s plotting something sinister. It’s hilarious. Honestly, Hudson just loves life. This kid is a joy.
Dislikes: He officially only dislikes two things: being hungry or tired. We are lucky because he sticks pretty close to a his little self-imposed eat-play-sleep schedule, so it’s almost always possible to figure out which of the two is bothering him. The sweetest part about this boy is that even when he’s screaming mad, he busts out the biggest grin as soon as you go to pick him up. He just can’t stay angry! It’s my favorite part of his personality right now.
Sleeping: For the most part, the past month’s sleep was the same as the month before. It’s only recently changed in the past week or two. Sleep is a little rocky and unpredictable right now, but I was expecting that. The four month sleep regression is no joke. That being said, his positive attitude means he’s pleasant to be around in the middle of the night. There’s always that, right?
Eating: He is a champion eater. He’s still eating about everything three hours or so, but he can go longer or shorter between feedings as necessary. He’s pretty laid back about it. He eats about 5 or 6 ounces when he has to take a bottle, but I’m not sure what his overall intake is now. I’m assuming it’s right on track, though, judging by his meaty little thighs.
Playing: Hudson wants to get up and run around the room. He is constantly trying to sit up, scoot around, and just generally try to be mobile in any way possible. He loves sitting upright now, but he can’t quite do it on his own. All of a sudden, he is very aware of toys and wants to have something to play with any time he’s awake – even if it’s just an empty box. He must have an active imagination already, because I swear he was using his empty Babiators box as a cell phone. He was chatting on it like a boss.
Firsts: First this month included his first beach vacations, first time playing outside in the Pack N Play, first time bouncing in his Jumperoo, first sleepover with my parents and his big brother, and first time rolling from front to back. He’s still working on back to front, but I think he’ll get there soon!
