Hey, hey, hey! I almost achieved my goal of running 10 miles today. I totally achieved a new level of neck-sweat, though. Gotta be good at something in life, I guess.
Oh, and the reason I didn’t quite make it to my desired distance today was because I’m bad at math. I ran 6.3 miles on the treadmill until it kicked me off. Then I started back up and did 3.6. At the time, I seriously thought that added up to 10. I probably shouldn’t be teaching people’s children how to add. Those damn decimals get me every time. 😉 On top of being angry about my math skills, I also had to watch the end of Grown Ups 2 and then the beginning. I still vote that the gym starts the movie when I arrive, because I’m special or something.
I do have some good news, though. The world survived another Black Friday. We opted out this year, just like we do the majority of the time. Not because I think there is anything wrong with it, but because we always get tempted by more than just what we went in to buy. One year we headed out for fun and ended up coming home with a new TV. In those instances, you are not saving money. You just bought some extra crap you didn’t need. I give huge props to the people who can make a Christmas list, head out on Black Friday, and only buy those things. It’s, like, a holiday miracle or something. I’m not that strong of a person, and end up having to eat Ramen noodles for a month. It’s a problem. Oh, and the funniest thing about standing in line for a TV deal is that they depreciate in value so quickly. You’d probably be able to buy the same freaking TV a month or two later for the same “steal” of a price, without having to go at a bizarre time of day and waiting in line. That’s exactly what happened to us. Life. Gotta love it.
I do kind of hate the idea of the “Black Friday” deals starting on Thanksgiving day, but that’s because I’d rather be sitting around with my family playing games and discussing how sick we feel. I also feel slightly sorry for the people who are forced to work that day when they otherwise wouldn’t have to do that. I realize some folks choose to work on Thanksgiving for the extra money, and that’s totally respectable, too. I feel like my Facebook feed is just people arguing over this right now. PS: Some people don’t even celebrate Thanksgiving. Mind-blowing, right? 😉
Anyway, if I end up falling into the “deal” trap it will probably happen on Cyber Monday. I’m pretty much going to force myself to stay off of the computer. I’m just not ready to shop yet. I’ve picked up a few things for Maddux here are there, but I haven’t even begun to think of the rest of the family. If you’re like me and need more time to make a budget, compile a list, and just generally prepare yourself for Christmas shopping, have no fear. Best Buy has you covered. They are known for their Black Friday deals, but they also have spectacular sales year round. Ones that you don’t have to get frost-bite in the parking lot for.
I know that we buy at least one thing at Best Buy every single Christmas. The gift of technology is the best, am I right? We head there for TVs, computers, phone accessories, and all our major techy purchases. We actually just snagged a heavily discounted printer there last week. I was shopping online for one until I realized I know nothing about them. We headed into Best Buy and 15 minutes later, we were walking out with the perfect printer for us. The Blue Shirts know their stuff. They made it simple, and spoke to me in terms I could understand. Which is a very limited list. So, yeah, we dig Best Buy.
One thing I didn’t realize is how much they have to offer for fitness fanatics and kids. I’ve never thought to buy gifts for the active folks or young children in my life there. Big mistake.
They are offering 15% off Health & Fitness products, Fisher Price & Mattel Toys. To redeem the coupon online, enter Blogger15Off at check out. I have my eyes on the Fisher Price Little People Apptivity Barnyard for Maddux. I think it’s pretty sweet. They also have a ton of great gift ideas at the Best Buy Gift Center.
In addition to that, they are offering 10% off Headphones and Portable Speakers (Excludes Beats, Bose and Sony Product). To redeem the coupon online, enter Blogger10Off at checkout. Y’all, if you follow me on Twitter, you know I need some new headphones. I keep complaining about the ones that came with my phone. I’m hoping new ones will be in my stocking. (Hey, Ryne!)
Other bonuses when it comes to shopping at Best Buy: their low price guarantee, free store pick up, more choices than practically anywhere on the planet, the ability to browse the showroom, great tech gifts in small packages, and the fact that you can purchase a gift card when all else fails. I’ve been known to panic and do the last one. No matter what people say, gift cards are awesome.
Well, folks, I gotta run. I have some things in the oven right now. I tend to forget about that kind of stuff and then almost burn the house down. I better get back to business. I’m cooking for our “Friendsgiving” tonight! So exciting. I even curled my hair for it. It’s a pretty big deal.
Hope y’all have a great Saturday night!
