Today Maddux went to the Masters for the first time. Well, the first time outside of my body. We totally walked up and down that daggum course a few times together in 2012. I complained last year, but he is much harder to carry on the outside. They don’t allow strollers on the course and he can’t walk. Bit of a predicament, eh? Let’s just say, the bicep workout from the night before haunted me all morning. Haunted.
He loved the crowds, though, so it was completely worth the blood, sweat, and tears to haul him around. FYI, I am ridiculously good at being dramatic.
There was so much for him to see! Don’t ya wish your yard looked like this? I do.
We are a pretty un-photogenic duo right here, but I couldn’t resist begging strangers to take our picture! That’s actually a lie. People kept offering. Yes, kept offering. That means there are more pictures than this. Yes, that means this is the best one. (Which makes me realize I need to do an “out-takes” post. How funny would that be?! Every picture that didn’t make the blog.)
Check out this cutie sitting on the fairway. We were so trill for this, I swear.
Oh, hiiiii. Fifty (imaginary) dollars for the person who can name the boys in the picture below. They are a few of my favorites!
Okay, so another Presley fail today. As I was walking out of the National, I had to take our tickets off and get them scanned. Cool. No big deal. I walk back to the car, strip Maddux down and change his diaper, strap him into the seat, and drive off. Sounds normal, correct? About a mile down the road, I have a freaking PANIC attack feeling. WHERE ARE THE TICKETS?! Oh, that’s right… lost. I pulled over, searched the car, and called my mom crying hysterically. I had borrowed the tickets from my cousin who planned to go later that afternoon. Long, emotional story later: I found ONE of the tickets outside in the parking lot and one was gone. My dad saved the day and somehow got the tournament folks to give him a different one. This is the face of a sweaty, heartbroken, idiot d-bag:
Maddux and I had planned on leaving the National around 10 and ended up leaving the parking lot (finally!!!) at 12. He had his snacks and bottle, but I was empty-handed. By the time I got home, all sense had left me. I drank a coconut water to bring me back to life, ate chips and dip, and then microwaved and scarfed down a brownie Questbar. Hey, at least there were fruits (is coconut a fruit? I’m counting it.), veggies, and protein involved. It could have been worse, because we do have cheesecake in the fridge.
My mom called me after one of the most epic baby naps in history and said she had three tickets if we wanted to go in as a family. Um, YEAH WE DO!
I was rocking my Saucony Kinvara 4s and using my Active Accessories pouch to carry my “allowed” stuff. No phones!
“So, there was this guy…” I feel like Maddux is telling a really great story here.
We stopped for one last picture before leaving.
We had a very sleepy baby on our hands. He’ll appreciate these pictures one day, right?
Hope y’all are having a great week! I’m kind of liking this whole “week off” thing, especially since it’s so warm now. 😉 How’s the weather treating y’all? Oh, and I totally skipped a workout today. Lugging a 20-something baby pound around all morning did me in!
