Maddux turned 11 months old on Tuesday! Can you believe that in less than a month he will be one? It seems like we were just heading to the hospital to meet him! Yes, that means I’m in full on party planning mode right now. Here’s to hoping I can pull off a decent little get together in his honor! 🙂
Likes: His favorite things are still playing outside, taking baths, people watching, and eating snacks. He still loves to wave at cars, trucks, and every single person we see. He even waves to the TV. Silly kid. We can now definitely add sand and water to the “like” list, too. I have a feeling Maddux and I will be spending a lot of time at the pool this year. He loves it!
Dislikes: He doesn’t like being tired, playing in the same room or with the same toy for very long, or having to sit in the high chair after he decides he’s finished. I eat really, really fast now so I can get up and play with him when he decides that dinner is lame. He pretty much runs the household at this point. 😉 Oh, and “no” still really ticks him off.
Sleeping: He sleeps from 7 to 7 most nights, and still wakes up once a night. It’s working out fine for us! I complained about the one wake up until he regressed to two or three. Now I realize one is totally a-okay. It’s funny how your views on “good” sleep go back and forth as they change their schedules. He still takes at least two naps a day. If he’s really busy on a certain day, he’ll need three.
Eating: This boy can eat. I still laugh about the week I panicked because he refused solids. He can down an entire slice of pizza like it’s nothing. It is funny to see how his preferences and meal sizes change from day to day. One day he loves bananas and the next he despises them. On day he’ll clean his plate and the next he just picks at his food. I guess we’re all like that, though? His absolute favorite foods are grapes, blueberries, and anything with marinara or teriyaki sauce. I agree with his food choices. Those things are really delicious.
Playing: Maddux is a total wild child. He is constantly on the move. His favorite games are still peek-a-boo, chase, and wrestling. He has learned to throw a ball really well. It’s pretty amazing how strong he is! He still likes to tickle and blow raspberries on other people’s bellies. It’s going to be super awkward the day he does it to a stranger.
Teething: He has six teeth now, two on the bottom and four on the top. The past two teeth that he cut were the worst for him. He hasn’t ever really been bothered by teething much until these two. It still wasn’t bad, but he wasn’t a huge fan of the process. You can see his cute little teeth when he smiles. PS: he has this new smile where he scrunches his entire face up like it’s too sunny outside. SO adorable.
Talking: He’s a little less vocal right now than he used to be. There is slightly less yelling and more soft talking, though. He uses “bah” (ball), “mama”, “dada”, and “byebye” in context. He also says “huh?”, “uh oh”, “baba” (bottle), but I’m not sure he knows exactly what he means. I need to film him talking because he has the sweetest little voice. It doesn’t fit his wild personality at all.
Firsts: First time playing in the ocean. First time running. First time eating sand.
Seriously, I can’t believe that this time next month I’ll be recapping his first birthday party. I mean, I can’t even understand how that’s possible! Moms, how did you deal with this? I feel like my little baby is already gone. He’s going to be so independent soon. Please tell me that they always need us at least just a little bit.
Hope y’all are having a great Friday night! I’m relaxing before my 5k in the morning, which I actually totally forgot about it until today. That’s pretty bad. I hope I survive!!
