Yesterday Maddux turned TEN MONTHS OLD. How does time keep slipping away like this? I think he looks super grown up in this picture. It makes me want to cry!
Likes: I swear his likes have always been the same. He loves bath time, chewing on things, and wrestling. He’s recently decided that his best friend is a small, yellow hairbrush. So bizarre. He loves cars and trucks now, too. I think he just noticed that they exist. He likes to go outside and wave at every single car that passes by. We’ve had a few cars stop to wave back at him. So cute! He loves all animals, his nightlight, and baseball hats as well.
Dislikes: Do not attempt to take anything from this boy. He’s not a fan. He’s also not big on the word “no”, but he’ll listen if his daddy says it. If I say no, he just arches his brows and goes for it. Nice. This is what happened when I brushed his hair and then took the brush away:
Sleeping: He sleeps around 12 hours a night, with one or two feedings thrown in there. We tried to kick the night bottle, but he’s definitely going through a growth spurt or something right now. He wakes up screaming, absolutely chugs a bottle, then goes happily back to sleep. It’s obvious that his hunger is waking him up. He still takes two naps a day: one in the morning and one in the afternoon.
Eating: He still drinks around 4 bottles a day, but he now prefers “people” food for sure. I laugh at how scared I was a few weeks ago that he would only eat purees. He loves peas, blueberries, eggs, pizza, cheese toast, guacamole, and everything in between. His favorite meal is definitely breakfast, though. Hand that boy some waffles or French toast and it’s game on.
Playing: Homeboy loves anything that isn’t a toy. He’ll play with brushes, empty water bottles, etc. Some of his favorite games are chase, hide & seek, and tickle. He’ll pull your shirt up and pinch your stomach and blow raspberries. It’s so funny to see what he thinks “tickling” is. It hurts. He also likes to take things out of drawers, shelves, cabinets, and baskets. He’s not as fond of putting things away. Bummer.
Teeth: He’s holding steady at four (two at the top and two at the bottom), but I can see some trying to fight there way through up top again.
Talking: The words he seems to use in the right context are bah (ball), hey, huh?, mama, dada, and bye bye. He constantly talks and blabbers, but has recently decided he also likes yelling at the top of his lungs. It sometimes sounds like he’s screaming “hey y’all!” Cracks me up.
Firsts: First steps (maxed out at five)! First time playing in the rain. First time buying 24 month clothing.
He is growing so fast. It’s amazing to see how much he changes each and every day! I swear I wake up to a new kid every morning. He gets cuter and funnier all the time! 🙂
