I can’t believe we’ve had Maddux for an entire week now! Then again, it feels like he has been here forever. It’s honestly like we’ve been best buds for my entire life. It’s such a weird feeling! Moms, do all weeks go by this fast? If so, he’ll be asking for the keys to our cars before we know it. (Ah, I’m going to cry!)
While I absolutely love and adore him, Maddux has really pushed me during his first week of life. I know that this will all pass (and I will miss these days!), but he has been a handful! I am the proud mama to a mixed up baby boy. He thinks days are nights and nights are PARTIES! Check out how well he’ll sleep during the day:
Night time is much more stressful for us. We get only two separate hour long stretches of sleep. The other time is spent feeding him, rocking him, burping him, and just generally trying not to cry more than he does. Yep, my week old baby makes me bawl like a child. But enough about me, this post is all about Maddux. One of his favorite things this week has been this bouncer:
Likes: Maddux loves tummy time! His neck is already ridiculously strong, and he loves to show off. He also likes his pacifiers, his hands, and everyone’s boobs. He’s basically a fan of anything he can get into his mouth.
Dislikes: He hates being undressed for any reason except skin to skin contact. He doesn’t like diaper changes, sponge baths, or changing clothes. He really doesn’t like for anyone to shut a door, which is weird because no other sounds bother him.
Sleeping: I’ve already mentioned it, but he is a day sleeper. He’s definitely going to try his best to fight me on this, but I’ve got to change his routine. So far we’ve tried frequent feedings during the day, keeping the noise level up during the day and quiet at night, keeping the house bright during the day and dark at night, and plenty of play time throughout the day. Anyone have any suggestions? Pretty please?
Eating: My big boy loves to eat! It is definitely his favorite activity by far. He latched on immediately in the hospital and hasn’t looked back since. I’m thinking of trying to pump a little this weekend and having Ryne give him a bottle at night. I might be able to sleep a little more if we can pull that off!
Playing: Maddux loves to grab things, play on his tummy, bounce in his bouncer, and be spoken/sang to. I can’t wait to add to this list as he gets older!
Now that Maddux is a week old and I’m officially one week into my postpartum journey, I’m ready to start moving again! I’ll post tomorrow about my postpartum fitness plans and how my body is adjusting to this madness. 😉 Have a great Thursday!
