Memorial Day + Beast Mode, Kind Of

In a move that probably surprised no one, I skipped my long run again this weekend. Too much going on. Not enough time for everything. Yada yada. In all honesty, I ate pizza and watched Jake and the Neverland Pirates with Maddux instead.

I’m a champ. Before I move on to today’s events, I just wanted to say that I am grateful to everyone who has paid the ultimate price for our freedom. In honor of them, I won’t even complain about the fact that I had to work today. I swear. I did ease the sting a little by bringing bribes, I mean treats, for my students. Only ten of them actually showed up today. Looks like I have some cookies to eat, huh?

After work, we headed to my parents’ house to swim and eat dinner. I can’t wait until Maddux and I can go swimming every single day now.

On top of that, I finally got a decent run in. Eight miles. I feel like such a beast for that. Just kidding. But it is really nice to know that I got at least one long-ish run in before the half.

Now I’m just browsing the internet for a little last-minute Memorial Day Sale shopping. I needed to get some bigger stuff for Maddux, so it’s perfect timing. Old Navy has a ton of kids things for $5. If you’re interested, I found quite a few good sales in addition to that one. All of these end tonight, so get moving if you want to snag something!

  • Old Navy: Up to 50 percent off of the entire store, both in stores and online. I want to order this shirt for Maddux. Still can’t believe he’ll need it soon!
  • Gap: 40 percent off of regularly priced items, both in stores and online, with the code EVENT. I love this dress, but I’m not sure I could pull it off. I think you need to be a model, maybe?
  • Target: Up to 30 percent off of patio furniture, which we are currently in need of. Score.
  • Loft: 40 percent off of everything, in stores and online. This skirt doesn’t come in my size, so I’m going to need someone else to buy it and let me live vicariously through them.
  • H&M: Up to 70 percent off of sale items in stores and online. Maddux is obsessed with dinosaurs, so I feel like he needs this sweatshirt. Too bad it’s hot outside.
  • Express: 40 percent off of everything except watches, both in stores and online. If this shirt wasn’t made for me, I’d be shocked.

Yeah, so the internet sort of just sucked me in for a solid hour. I blame the weather. I’m a little bummed that it ended up raining today, but at least we enjoyed the sun for a little while this afternoon. Did you enjoy your day? I’d love to hear what y’all did! Make me jealous.

  4. Oh wow, I’m surprised you guys had school today. At least you had patriotic cookies, right? ;) Great job on your 8 miler! I’m sure that felt awesome.

We did a whole lot of home stuff…put up a ceiling fan, hung some photos, etc., and then went swimming and grilled pizza. It was a great day.

  5. Oh I love sales! I rarely buy things at their full price – and that probably makes a total cheapskate, but I like to go with bargainista ;)

What a bummer that you had to work though – but cookies solve almost everything!

  11. sorry you had to work! 10 kids would have been nice though vs. a full class. Lofthouse cookies are seriously the best. Just don’t read the nutritional facts :o lol!

  15. Nice 8-miler and pace!!! Question though, is that the Nike app in the picture above? I secretly want to recap my runs with a picture behind it (maybe it will make the run more enjoyable knowing I get to end with that? haha).

Our chiro guy kinda told me to treat any halfs I do as ‘long runs’ so I like his thinking. I mean, ANYthing to prevent my body from injury right? ahha

  16. Oh man, I love those cookies so much. I don’t even care how many nasty food dyes they contain, they’re little crack clouds.

    Parents with a pool, luckyyyy!

When you linked the T-shirt for Maddux, I was sure it was going to say big brother, haha!

    • They are probably poison, but they are so good. Life is hard sometimes. Tough decisions have to be made. ;)

NOT ready for that t-shirt yet, haha.
