This Monday sure has been better than most, for sure. Is it possible to just be on permanent vacation? If you figure out how a young family of three can afford to retire, please email me that information as soon as possible.
Last night, we capped off our evening with a family trip to get frozen yogurt. I think Maddux was a tiny bit appreciative of this outing.
By the way, if you don’t like Fruity Pebbles, I don’t understand you.
When we got back to the house, I jumped into by comfy clothes right away. We took a family portrait before putting M to bed. And yes, this qualifies as a family portrait for us. We are fancy.
I grabbed a beer as soon as my sweet boy’s head hit the pillow. It was fabulous. I swear they taste better on vacation. We played two rounds of Partini (it’s kind of like Cranium) before bed.
The next morning, Maddux and I were on our own. All of the boys headed out early to go fishing. It’s rare that I wake up before my child.
This is what Ryne was up to all morning:
This is what I was up to:
All of the girls went shopping and out to lunch at Poppy’s Italiano. Maddux gave the cheese pizza two enthusiastic thumbs up. When we got back, Ryne was fishing again. He caught a black tip shark (I think?!) but it got away. Of course, none of us witnessed this feat… so it’s his word we have to go on.
Maddux ate a shark. That was actually documented.
We eventually made our way down to the beach, but my eyeballs didn’t accompany us.
We just got done eating dinner, courtesy of the fine gentlemen who went fishing all morning. I’m waiting to see if Maddux is really asleep before we walk down to the beach. Don’t worry folks, there are people in the house with the monitor. We may not be winning any parenting awards, but we aren’t total idiots. 🙂
Now, let me back track a minute. Remember that green hoodie I wore last night? Well, I wore it all morning, too. In fact, I’m 99% sure I’ll be throwing it on again this evening. It was sent to me by The Universe Knows in exchange for a review. (Note: a full disclosure will be located at the end of this post.)
“Breathe in life”? Yeah, I can get behind that. Very fitting for vacation, right? I recently explained that I’m not going to do any reviews for things that I don’t really want to try or already love. Well, I wanted these things. Sue me. This hoodie is exactly what I need for the summer months. It’s hotter than Hades where I live, but I get chilly in the air conditioning at night. I need something light enough to cover some skin without making me feel like my living room is a sauna. It’s been great for the beach as well. I wore it on the deck last night to protect my arms from the wind and the disgusting, monstrous mosquitoes and gnats. It also has a tiny little pocket on the front. In true five year old fashion, I put a sea shell in it.
They also sent a coffee mug and a journal. It’s like they know me. Coffee? Yeah, I love it. Journaling? Well… I like to doodle. Does that count? Sure it does.
I really, really like the mug. It’s the perfect size, in my opinion. I don’t like itty bitty, baby coffee mugs. I like to tell people I drink one cup of coffee a day. I just don’t say that I like one big cup. 😉 The mug I received says “Why wait? Create.” I think they mean create another cup of coffee, but I’m not sure. My journal says “follow your heart”. I plan to write “to the kitchen” after that and use it for meal planning and random drawings of flowers and fish (<- the only two things I can draw). The journal is leather and very, very luxurious. PS: I like the word luxurious.
Honestly, I really do think these are quality products. I love comfy clothes, mugs, and paper products, to I might be a little biased. Who doesn’t like that stuff, though? Let’s be real.
I think they would make the perfect gifts, too. They are just personal enough without being all “hey, I’m watching you from the bushes”. I think they’d be great for someone going off to college, new parents (they need all the motivation you can give them), and any “just because” gift… to yourself or others. Seriously, check out the website and see for yourself. 🙂
**Disclosure: I was sent these products to review through my partnership with FitFluential in exchange for an honest review. I received no other compensation. As always, all thoughts and opinions are my own. The hoodie freaking rocks.)
In other news, I skipped a workout today. I just wasn’t able to go off on my own with Ryne out fishing. By the time we were all back and settled, it was nine million degrees outside. This is me making excuses and exaggerating the temperature. Although, I did break a sweat just carrying Maddux around. That counts. I hope y’all are having a good start to the week! I’m going to go grab a beer! Did I mention that I love vacation? 🙂
