And we’re off to Orlando! Well, actually, we’re stopping half way to spend the night. Still counts.
In honor of our vacation, I put together a quick little list of my favorite healthy travel snacks. In addition to being healthy, we needed items that were also low-mess and non-refrigerated. Done and done.
Yeah, I know. Water isn’t really a snack. I feel you on that, but sometimes you just need something to do in the car. Before you jump straight to the snacks, drink up. My all-time favorite water bottle is my CamelBak eddy. I need to invest in more of them.
I recently found these pre-packaged hummus snacks at Earth Fare and I am obsessed. They don’t need to be refrigerated, so they are perfect for traveling. I bought a few for our trip and I hope they last longer than five minutes into the drive. We’ll see.
Cashews, pistachios, peanuts, and macadamias are my favorites. I’ve never seen macadamia written in the plural form. Can you do that? Whatever. I did. Oh, and don’t give me a walnut. Those are gross. And now I’ve forgotten the point I was trying to make here.
4.) PB & B.
Peanut butter and banana. In my world, jelly is the trashy mistress. Banana and PB belong together. Plain and simple. If you need more staying power, throw in some bread and call it lunch. I could live out of my car for, like, a week right now.
Well, they’re better than candy? We buy the Annie’s brand gummies because they don’t use artificial dyes or pesticide-ridden fruit. Plus, they are in the shape of bunnies. These are a necessity when traveling with a toddler, I don’t care what anyone says.
What are you favorite “car snacks”? I’m always open to some taste-testing. Bonus points if you list something I can purchase at the next gas station.
