Let me preface this post by saying that I love to run. I really do. That being said, there are several times when running absolutely blows. In no particular order, here are a few of my top running annoyances:
- Bugs. The other night, when I got back from a run in the neighborhood, Ryne asked me why I had black fuzz all over my face. No, It wasn’t fuzz. Yes, you should be grossed out. I had hit a patch of really bad gnats, but I didn’t think much about it until I realized I was there final resting place. YUCK.
- Blisters. This one is pretty self-explanatory. They just hurt. You might as well just throw chafing in here, too. Friction, sweat, and running do not mix well.
- Hair issues. It’s all annoying when you’re running. Bangs in your eyes, flyaways getting stuck in your chapstick, floppy ponytail syndrome (what, you’ve never had to stop mid-run to deal with your FPS?), etc.
I can’t rid the South of bugs, and I can’t remove friction from the science books. I finally do have a fix for that last bullet point, though. I was serious with this posts’ title, y’all. Get excited. If my funky shaped dome can rock these bands, anyone’s can. I’ve tried working out in a million different headbands, but these were the first to truly stay put. They honestly haven’t even budged! They are from the cute-as-pie Etsy shop Chickbands.
The only time I haven’t worked out in them since I got them was for the Color Me Rad run, and that was only because I didn’t want to ruin them. Let’s be real… the pink band would have looked sweet with my tutu. The bands come in a few styles and colors, but they are all non-slip. The backing must be the reason, but I still don’t understand how they work SO well. It’s must be magic. That’s the only logical conclusion.
Another huge plus? Kara, the woman behind the bands, is pretty awesome. She sent me this cute little note. PS: I want her handwriting. It’s adorable. I’m smitten with her “H”.
Her awesomeness became even more apparent when she told me that three of my readers would be walking away with a band of their own.Yes, three! If you win, please choose one of the princess bands. We would totally become BFFE.
