Music. When you read that word, something probably popped into your head. Was it a song title? Your favorite artist? A specific melody or beat? The thing about music, is that it is universal. We may not all like the same music, but it’s definitely weaved into every aspect – every moment – of our lives.
Music is also extremely powerful. It can conjure hidden emotions. It can transport you back in time. It can bring you to action. It can bring you to tears.
It’s there during the good times. It’s there during the rough times. Music is always there.
While my taste in music has evolved over the years, my love for it has never changed.
From breaking it down to “Prop Me Up Beside the Jukebox” with my sister when we were tiny to belting out “I Will Always Love You” in elementary school, I’ve loved my music from day one. My middle school years were full of anything “alternative” I could get my hands on. I wanted to be different. High school brought rap. The filthier the better. My college days were filled with my mom’s old jams. Hall and Oates for the win.
Now I love it all. My Pandora is very confused. My stations include: B.O.B., Zac Brown Band, Juicy J, Eric Clapton, Aloe Blacc, Lupe Fiasco, Dave Matthews Band, Rockabye Baby (<-for M ;)), Mariah Carey, Four Tops, James Taylor, Eminem, One Direction, and the Lumineers. I’ve got about a billion. It’s getting out of hand. I have stations for different moods, activities, and times of day.
Music is literally weaved into every moment of my day. It helps me calm down. It helps amp me up. It makes me cry. It makes me laugh. It has helped me through some of the toughest times of my life. I absolutely love this quote. Maya Angelou has a way with words, huh? Simply perfect.
Polk Audio recently launched the #LoveMusic Project to give people a way to share their music stories. I’ve shared mine with you. Now it’s your turn.
Why do you love music? What does it mean to you? If you’re shy, and posting photos and videos isn’t your thing, you can just check out other people’s awesome stories. It is so interesting to me to hear how music impacts people in different ways. The #LoveMusic microsite is full of these stories!
If the Polk name is familiar to you, that is not surprising. They are known for making awesome audio products. From headphones to outdoor speakers, they’ve got it all. I just ordered some sweet new pink headphones from them. (They are currently on sale!) To learn more about Polk Audio, you can find them on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
Polk Audio didn’t just hook me up, though. They are also giving me a $50 gift code to share with one of you!
