Time for some real talk. Adult acne sucks, and it sucks big time. There are few things more embarrassing than walking around like you and your skin are eternally stuck in ninth grade. I always assumed that my breakouts would clear up on their own as I aged. While my skin has improved some, it could definitely still use a lot of work. I’m honestly tired of being a freaking slave to my concealer. Ryne is a kind, loving soul who repeatedly tells me I am beautiful no matter what. The truth is that I look like a gargoyle in the mornings. When I was contacted about reviewing Proactiv, I clearly had to respond with a big, fat “YES”.
I have tried prescriptions, natural remedies, and about a million other overpriced “miracle products” and none of them have worked for me. They are either too harsh, too weak, or just make my skin hate itself even more. I hadn’t even thought about Proactiv, because to be honest, I wasn’t sure if it would work for adults. I remember friends using it in middle and high school, but I totally forgot about it in recent years. I received my kit the other day and I am super impressed.
Everything was packaged neatly and the products were all bright and shiny, which is obviously important if they are going to be sitting on my counter for months, y’all. I ended up opening each of the products and checking out the scents. If you’re going to be washing your face with something every single day, it can’t repulse you. That’s just a fact. Thankfully, it didn’t have much of a scent at all. It just smelled fresh and clean to me, if that makes sense. So far, so good. Now we just have to see if it works. Hopefully I’m on the way to clear, makeup-free skin. What I’m excited about in addition to clearer skin: a visibly hydrated, even toned, and radiant complexion. With exclusive microcrystal benzoyl peroxide, Proactiv directly targets acne-causing bacteria and other impurities like oil and dirt, to clear existing blemishes and help prevent new blemishes from forming.
So here’s to clear skin and confidence! Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got to go talk myself into washing my makeup off and taking before pictures. *Shudder*
