Puma Fitness + Train Like a Cat

Today is my mom’s birthday. Happy birthday to my best friend that still tells me what to do. We actually went out to dinner with my parents tonight, so I didn’t end up getting around to running the sprints I had planned. I seriously can’t get that amped after 8 pm. I think I’d be up all night after that. Real talk.
I did get a quick circuit in, though. It actually kicked my butt, which kind of defeated the purpose of not running sprints because I was jacked. Like Mountain Dew jacked instead of ripped muscle jacked. Oops. The huge muscles are just on their way, right? Oh, y’all knew this was going to be themed, right? I mean, I can’t work out if I’m not being ridiculous while I’m at it. I did skip the cat puns even though I really want to throw one in there, so I consider it a win.
Why did I choose to focus on strength and agility? Well, if we’ve met you know I’m clumsy. My aunts call me “Grace” in order to mock me. I come from a loving family. Anyway, side shuffles are a simple agility move that even I can figure out. I do think they help me focus on not tripping over my own feet. If I keep them up, maybe I’ll be able to walk or run without eating the pavement. That would be nice. They also do a nice job of keeping your heart rate up after tricep dips and push ups. The rest of the moves are just some that I love to hate. Basically, this workout challenges me in the best way possible, because it includes almost nothing that I’m good at. That makes it oddly fun. To complete the workout, go through each of the moves without stopping. You can quit after the plank jacks, or rest for 1 minute and repeat. It’s up to you, y’all. I’m very accommodating, ya know?
Oh, did you notice the #PUMAfitness and #PUMAsport hashtags? I created the workout in response to PUMA’s challenge to design a workout to test out some of their gear. How did the gear measure up? Let’s chat…
PUMA sent me a pair from their Formlite XL Ultra Shoes and I was stoked. I went for a run the very day these shoes came in the mail.
I’ve mentioned this many, many times but I love a good lightweight, flexible shoe. According to PUMA, the shoe “is lightest in class with an aerodynamic, 360 fit and flex.” I can attest to that. I’ve never had a pair of shoes as “bendy” as these and I’ve had my fair share of barefoot-style shoes. The breathable upper mesh helps keep stank feet at bay while helping reduce the weight of the shoe. The sole is a crazy mix of cushion and flexibility. It’s hard to explain. I mean, I’m pretty much a wordsmith so I should be able to handle it. Unfortunately, these shoes are just too much awesome for my mind to comprehend.
The Formlite shoes are perfect for cross-training. The feather-inspired outsole provides multidimensional flexibility, in addition to a good dose of grip and just the right amount of cushioning. On top of being great “gym” shoes, I really enjoy them for shorter runs or sprints. If you haven’t run in a minimalist-type shoe yet, I’d suggest slowly easing into running in these.
PUMA also sent me two items from their Tech Performance apparel line. I haven’t run in the capris yet, but they held up well during my quick workout. I can’t wear them out for a run until the weather cools a bit. Running in them will be the true test!
I did get to try the long tank out this past weekend on a middle-of-the-day run with Ryne. I loved it! It was loose, breathable, and I didn’t have to think about it once. That’s the sign of good workout gear. If I don’t have to fidget with it, it’s a keeper. Apparently the tank itself is made with something called Cocona Technology. It’s made with coconut fibers, which is a little awesome. It helps with keeping you cool and preventing odor. It probably does other really cool stuff that I don’t know about, because I’m not a coconut scientist. I just know I didn’t die from the heat and I think I’d pass a sniff test. I’ll take it.
I really did enjoy working out in the PUMA gear. My closet has room for all shapes, sizes, colors, and fabrics. I don’t discriminate. I love trying new brands and discovering new favorite pieces. I’m glad to have a few more to add to the list!

I couldn’t post anything without mentioning the attacks, and yet I don’t want to take away from the truly beautiful things I’ve read on other blogs. Have a great night and keep on doing your thing! Love, love, love!*
