Y’all. Last night I worked from 7 am to 7 pm. Report card nights make for long days. I realize 99% of you think I sound like a petulant child, but it’s difficult for me to stare at the same walls for 12 hours straight.
I accomplished nothing when I got home last night. No blogging, working out, cleaning, or making coherent statements. Nada. I just went to bed. Therefore I have absolutely no idea what I want to talk about. I guess I should just talk about the rest of the vacation we took last weekend? Cool?
When I left off, we had just left Amelia Island. Remind me that I need to go back there, as soon as possible.
Saturday afternoon we arrived in Savannah and headed straight to our hotel, the DoubleTree. There were cookies and coffee at check-in, so it’s safe to say I found my new favorite hotel chain.
After we dropped our bags off, we walked down the street to River Street. We did not embarrass the guys, at all. It doesn’t matter how many times I visit a city, I am always a lame tourist.
We strolled around for a minute before walking back up to Bay Street and grabbing drinks and appetizers at Moon River Brewing Company. Ryne and I ordered the Leek and Goat Cheese Cakes. We inhaled them in two seconds flat.
I’m just going to go ahead and admit that all we did was eat in Savannah. We couldn’t decide on restaurants, so we just ate everything. Makes sense. We ended up at Barracuda Bob’s for dinner. It was amazing. Hi, cute fish beer flight.
I chose an entree with scallops, shrimp, a crab cake, mashed potatoes, and asparagus. Everything was cooked perfectly and the crab cake had basically no breading, which made it the best crab cake of my life. This was hands-down the best meal of the trip.
For “dessert”, we went to Wet Willie’s and ordered sugar bombs disguised as liquor drinks. So good. I ended up trying to dance to 90s hip hop, but nobody else was feeling it. There was a bachelorette party there, too, so we had fun watching them flirt with the cop on duty. Hilarious.
When we got back to the hotel, we wanted to eat again. I know, right? We called Vinnie Van Go Gos and ordered the.best.pizza.ever. But aren’t they always the best pizza ever when you’ve been drinking? I think we’ll have to go again to give it a sober test run.
I told you all we did was eat, so you shouldn’t be surprised that we went straight to bed after the pizza and got up and headed right to brunch the next morning. We chose Rocks on the River for breakfast and slyly got charged for coffees. I don’t know if we are just uncultured, but we definitely thought it was free. Free coffee is the best kind. This, unfortunately, was not.
Our meals were really good, though. I ordered the Shrimp and Grits Benedict without sausage. Shrimp, man. I could eat them at every meal.
After breakfast, we walked around a little more and grabbed some praline samples because we obviously get excited about free food.
Then, as the ultimate pay-back, the boys topped our embarrassing boat photo with an super nerdy sword fight. Can’t take ’em anywhere. The lady ended up yelling at them and it was awesome.
Then we drove home. What an exciting conclusion to this small mini-series, eh? I promise I won’t bore you with anymore details of this trip ever again. I just can’t help myself but blog about vacations, though, for posterity’s sake. I have the memory of a goldfish. These posts help me remember where I want to eat the next time, because that’s the most important part of any trip.
I do have a small request for y’all today, though! You guys know I just randomly hop on here and start blabbing, but I’d like to have at least some direction for future posts. Is there anything you like me to talk about? Or anything I said I was going to talk about but have since forgotten? Or just some weird, random question you’ve wanted to ask me? I’ve gotten some emails with personal questions that I feel like I should address, but I only want to do so publicly if it’s a common theme, ya know? I also know there is a high probably that most of you could care less. But in the off chance that you do want to know something, just let me know in the comments or in an email!
Have a great Friday! I’ll be in my classroom for a teacher workday. Which means I’ll be organizing the disaster that is my room. 🙂
