Race Causes + Give a Minute, Help Make a Wish

Tonight I don’t have any plans to work out or do much at all. Sounds fabulous. Tomorrow morning I’ll be heading out to run a local race that was planned to raise money for a coworker’s son. I’m not really prepared to run, but it’s definitely for a good cause. I can deal with that. Some of my most favorite races have been small, local races that you can tell were total labors of love. I have a few friends running the race with me, so that makes it even better. Y’all just pray that I don’t pass out, break an ankle, or get lost. It’s a 5k, but you never know how things will go when I’m around.
Speaking of good causes, I was recently asked if I would spread the word about the partnership between Make-A-Wish and Straight Talk Wireless. They are working together to promote the “Give a Minute, Help Make a Wish” program.
Every Saturday in September, Straight Talk Wireless will donate $1 to Make-A-Wish for each person that visits their participating local Walmart and takes a minute to learn more about Straight Talk. They will donate a minimum of $500,000 to Make-A-Wish and up to $1,000,000 if enough people participate in the program. Last year, they met their goal and raised the entire million dollars. Amazing! That is a whole lot of granted wishes, ya know? If you can, please just take a minute this Saturday to pop into your closest participating Walmart. The four Walmarts in my area are all taking part, so I seriously have no excuse not to go. Every dollar helps! For a lot of these children, these wishes are really a chance to get away from being “sick”. They get to have fun and forget about the tests, hospitals, rules, and all the other BS that has been handed to them on a daily basis. They get to be kids.
Apparently, everyone doesn’t live near a Walmart. This is shocking news to me. If you can’t make it out to Walmart, you can still help out. From now until September 28, just share the video on straighttalkwish.com and Straight Talk will donate $1 (up to $100,000) towards their $1,000,000 goal. It’s simple, fast, and totally worth the little effort it takes. Straight Talk is proud to be working with the Make-A-Wish Foundation to help make children’s dreams come true.
If you’re in the market for a new phone or would like to learn more about Straight Talk, keep on reading. Straight Talk is a service provided by TracFone Wireless Inc., America’s largest no-contract cell phone provider. Straight Talk partners with existing networks to provide great service to its customers and can be found exclusively at Walmart stores. They save money by not having stores of their own, which allows them to help save their customers cash, too. They still have all the great phone brands like Samsung, Apple, Windows, and LG. Basically, you get the same great service and phones for a fraction of the price and no long-term commitment. The “ALL YOU NEED” plan for $30 a month to receive 1,000 minutes, 1,000 text or multimedia messages, 30 MB of data transfer for data phones and 411 calls at no additional charge. The unlimited plan for $45 a month to receive unlimited talk, text and data Nationwide anytime with calls to 411 at no additional charge. Right now, Ryne and I are locked into a contract, but I would definitely consider looking into this further when we are able to. Maybe this information will benefit you now, though.
Anyway, I love this program. I love children. I love making them smile. I mean, who doesn’t? Thanks to Make-A-Wish and Straight Talk for making their wishes a reality!
