First of all, I feel like I have to stress that we have finally taken down the Christmas tree today. I just happened to pose in front of it one last time for my 36 week update. I also want to add that I have grown tremendously in three weeks. Like, I don’t even understand how that’s possible. Must be the holiday party food. I blame no one but myself.
What’s baby up to? According to BabyCenter, the baby “is still packing on the pounds — at the rate of about an ounce a day. He now weighs almost 6 pounds and is more than 18 1/2 inches long (about the size of a head of romaine lettuce). He’s shedding most of the downy covering of hair that covered his body as well as the vernix caseosa, the waxy substance that covered and protected his skin during his nine-month amniotic bath. Your baby swallows both of these substances, along with other secretions, resulting in a blackish mixture, called meconium, will form the contents of her first bowel movement.” Lots of poop talk this week, huh? And the doctor told us he was measuring around 6 pounds several weeks ago, so I assume we have another 9-pounder on the way.
Total Weight Gain: About 31, which makes me the reigning champ of pregnancy weight gain.
Fitness: If walking up and down the stairs because I forget about 30,000 things each morning counts, then I’d say my workouts have been pretty solid lately.
Symptoms: I’m just really achy and uncomfortable, but I can’t really complain because it could be so much worse. I’m honestly pretty good until the afternoons, when all hell breaks lose and my body revolts against me.
Sleep: Ha, that’s funny. These days, if I only wake up once every two hours I count it as a win.
Cravings: HOT SAUCE. Oh, and every dessert ever made.
Maternity Clothes: I can fit in approximately three outfits. If you see me wearing the same things over and over, just pretend I own about 3o of the same shirts and leggings.
Baby Items Bought/Received: We were lucky and received a lot of great baby related items for Christmas. We also just ordered a queen bedroom set for his room, because every newborn totally needs that.
Goals: Eh, none. I’d rather not let myself down. We did already organize and clean all of the old baby gear and clothing, so we really just need a crap ton of diapers at this point. I should probably buy some.
Worries: I’m terrified that I will still be pregnant in February. I just don’t feel like this kid has plans to evacuate on time.
Best Moment: Maddux and I have had some hilarious conversations about the baby lately. From him still thinking I ate a baby to him asking on how earth it will come out, there is never a shortage of complicated explanations around here. Three is awesome, so I can only imagine how funny three + a newborn will be. There will be so many questions, I’m sure.
See you guys soon… and HAPPY 2016!
