Apparently I had my dates all confused, because I’ve been tracking myself a little off this whole time. Whoops. I’m 39 weeks now, but I thought I was 38 and some change. Does that really matter in the grand scheme of things? Not even a little. I don’t even know why I’m taking the time to type that out. Anyway, moving on. How over it do I look? Didn’t even do my hair. Shameful.
What’s baby up to? According to BabyCenter, the baby is “full term this week and waiting to greet the world! He continues to build a layer of fat to help control his body temperature after birth, but it’s likely he already measures about 20 inches and weighs a bit over 7 pounds, about the size of a mini-watermelon. The outer layers of his skin are sloughing off as new skin forms underneath.” He’s shedding. Nice.
Total Weight Gain: I’d be willing to bet I’m pretty close to the 35 pound mark right about now. Let’s just blame it on water weight, shall we?
Fitness: If getting out of bed every day counts, then I am super fit right now.
Symptoms: Everything aches. Everything. But, on the plus side, I can breathe a little easier now that he’s getting ready to make his grand entrance. Small wins are still wins, guys.
Sleep: I get up about every hour and a half. It’s God’s way of preparing you for life with a newborn, I’m sure of it.
Cravings: Still anything really, really spicy or really, really sweet. Plus ALL of the ice water.
Maternity Clothes: I can barely even fit in those anymore. I’m going to need to hurry up and have this baby just so I can stop looking like a busted can of biscuits.
Baby Items Bought/Received: We had a few fun baby showers recently. One of the best things we received was a Halo Bassinet. I’m way too excited about not having to get up to get the baby during the night.
Goals: I said this in my last update, but I am skipping any kind of goals. Our bags are packed and his room is ready, so I feel like we’ve accomplished every necessary thing. The rest is just icing on the cake.
Worries: I’d just like to avoid any serious complications. Other than that, I’m good to go.
Best Moment: Maddux finally felt his brother move. He was a mix of freaked out, intrigued, and protective. Well, protective of me. He doesn’t like the idea of someone (other than himself) poking and bugging me. Too cute.
I’m secretly hoping that the next time I check in with y’all will be from the hospital, but I also know that’s probably not going to be the case. This baby seems like he might be in it for the long haul. Either way, I hope y’all have a great week!
