All that yappin’ away the other day about getting in the gym and I’ve yet to do it. On Monday, instead of embarrassing myself by picking up heavy things in public, my mom watched Maddux while I went for a quick run.
All I have to say is that I’m thankful for grandparents and shade. Without those two things, this run would not have been possible.
Yesterday I had every intention of heading to the gym, but it just didn’t pan out. Basically, I let time get away from me while doing absolutely nothing productive. I wasn’t going to let the whole day go to waste, though, so I completed a quick workout after dinner. I’ve been studying some for my NASM test, and I recently did some reading on supersets. Nothing like a little studying-induced motivation.
I definitely need to incorporate more of them on days when I’m pressed for time. My workout was over before I knew it, which was exactly what I was going for. The best workouts are the ones you don’t even realize are happening, obviously. The moves went a little something like this:
I used 5 and 10 lb dumbbells and I didn’t really need anything else. A stability ball would come in handy for the bench presses and preacher curls, but modifications can me made if you’re doing the workout in your living room while watching “Bo on the Go” with a toddler like I did. I did my bench presses flat on the floor, which technically makes them floor presses. I did the preacher curls over the edge of my couch, because I like to think I’m resourceful like that. I kind of went totally rogue. I lead an wild life, let me tell you.

The benefits of supersets, in my opinion, are 1.) saving time, 2.) limiting “boring” breaks, and 3.) working up a serious sweat. I swear I felt like I ran around the neighborhood by the time I was done. Today I hope to actually get to run around the neighborhood. Cross your fingers for me! Tomorrow, I swear I’ll lift heavy weights at the gym. I swear. (This is me asking you to hold me accountable.)
Question: Have you incorporated supersets into your routine? Love ‘em or hate ‘em?
