Happy Saturday! I don’t usually post on the weekends, but giveaways get me jacked. Especially ones involving food. So, yeah. Here we go.
I mentioned recently that I’m working on my snacking habits. I got way too used to grabbing potato chips every afternoon, so I knew I needed switch things up in order to be my healthiest self. Plus, potato chips are really greasy and make my hands and face feel gross. And, yes, I eat like a five-year-old and get food all over my face. It happens.
Anyway, making healthy choices when it comes to snacking is becoming more and more important. Twenty-five percent of the average American’s diet now comes from snacks. That’s a huge chunk of our daily calories, so it’s crucial to consume most of them in a smart way.
Most people are divided when it comes to their “unhealthy” snack obsessions. They are either into salty or sweet. I’m the freak that needs both, one after the other. If I have ice cream, I need some chips. If I have leftover pizza, I’ll need a chocolate bar. It’s a vicious cycle. Luckily, I’m not fighting this battle alone, y’all. Skinnygirl has my back.
They sent me a nice little package, complete with a t-shirt, headband, and a few of their Tasty Nutrition Bars to sample.
The bars come in three delicious, crave-worthy flavors: Chocolate Peanut Butter with Sea Salt, Banana Oatmeal Dark Chocolate, and Dark Chocolate Pretzel. My favorite was the little chunk of sea salt heaven, with the pretzel combo coming in at a close second. Salty and sweet? Amazing. Each bar is a provides 150-170 calories, six to seven grams of protein, and five grams of fiber. There are no artificial flavors or sweeteners, and they are also gluten free and Kosher. Pretty good stats, huh? (You can purchase them here using the discount code SNACKSWAP14 to save $1!)
What I love most about Skinnygirl’s approach to snacking is that they aren’t just focusing on their own pre-made snacks. They have also provided me (and all of you!) with a great list of healthy snack swaps on their Snack Swap Website. You can search based on what flavors or texture you typically crave. I went with sweet and ended up with a healthy swap for banana pudding. Not complaining there. All I had to do was mix a banana, half a cup of almond milk, two tablespoons chia seeds, and a little vanilla extract in a small food processor. I think it would be even prettier if I had used white chia seeds. You live and learn. Regardless of my poor choice of chia coloring, the Creamy Banana Chia Pudding was so good!
I’ll definitely be back to the snack swap website, because there were a few recipes that caught my eye. In addition to snagging a few awesome recipes, you can also enter to win a $1,000 Target shopping spree just by sharing the snack swap recipe you like the most on Facebook or Twitter. Love more than one? Each share earns a separate entry!
That’s still not all. They are offering one Run Pretty reader an assortment of Skinnygirl Tasty Nutrition Bars to try out. Enter via the Rafflecopter below.
The giveaway is open to US readers. The giveaway will end on 9/19 and a winner will be announced the following day. Good luck! In the meantime, you can connect with Skinnygirl on their Website or on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
