I’ve already shared that I like to take time for myself every so often, but here’s another secret: I don’t always have to be alone. Sometimes the most relaxing moments of my day are the ones when I’m hanging out with the fam.
The only struggle with that is sharing treats and desserts. If it’s something I’m not totally into or if it’s something gargantuan, I might consider splitting it. When it’s Skinny Cow Divine Filled Chocolates, though, forget about it. Each package contains three squares of velvety milk chocolate filled with luscious caramel. Yeah. Those babies are mine.
Here’s where it gets tricky: toddlers want everything you have. Everything. If I even somewhat express interest in something, it’s his. There is only one fool-proof method to prevent this from happening. Lie. Lie until you can’t lie any more. My usual fib goes a little something like this:
“Mama, I have some?”
“Oh, no, honey. These are for grown ups.”
Is it mean? Probably. Is it genius? Of course. Honestly, this mainly works because my son knows that grown ups have to go to work. He thinks that sounds terrible. He also smelled a beer once, so he thinks grown up drinks are stinky cups of medicine. Huge parenting win, right there. Now anything labeled “grown up” is super disgusting. I’d be an idiot to not take advantage of that.
Recently, I stocked up on a few Skinny Cow® products. Along with the chocolates, I also grabbed the Vanilla Almond Crunch ice cream bars and the Creamy Iced Coffees. I’m a big fan of all of them. Oh, and you bet they are all “grown up” treats. Every single one.
Now I can enjoy “me” time, even when I’m surrounded by the people I love. So here’s to living the impossibly good life, one white lie at a time.
Now I know I can’t be the only one who has little rituals that relax them. What’s yours? Direct Message @TheSkinnyCow yours on Twitter, and you’ll receive a sweet treat!
