Vacation Extension + the Omni Resort

Just popping in to say that our vacation was unexpectedly extended yesterday! Maddux and I were only supposed to stay Wednesday night, but my parents generously offered to keep the room another night for us. They went home and Ryne drove down straight after work. Then, Ryne told me to book Friday night for us, too. You don’t have to tell me twice. So now we’ll be in Hilton Head until tomorrow. Our last summer vacation is working out quite nicely if I do say so myself.
We haven’t really left the hotel since we got here on Wednesday morning. It’s just been a lot easier to stay near the room, since Maddux’s vacation naps are really unpredictable. The sunshine wears him out pretty darn quickly. Luckily, I love our hotel! We’re staying at the Omni and it really is perfect for us since there is so much to do right on the property. They have a neat little market, where you can buy sandwiches, desserts, Starbucks, and basic grocery staples. They also have a grill by the pool area, that has amazing shrimp salads, burgers, and drinks. We haven’t eaten at the more formal restaurant, the HH Prime, because frankly, I don’t like to shower and get ready very often at the beach. My bad. By far, the best thing I’ve eaten has been this franken-dessert. I don’t remember what they called it, but it’s a brownie, a cookie, and a mousse all smushed into one monster cupcake shape. Yep, I’ll take it.
The resort has three pools, including one adult pool and one fun “wade in” pool in addition to your standard pool. It also had a splash pad. Maddux loved it, but that thing was seriously ice cold. I wasn’t a huge fan.
Our room was also great. It’s like a little studio apartment, with beds, a TV, and small kitchenette. It was nice to tuck Maddux’s crib over in the corner, so we didn’t disturb him much. He has slept like a freaking pro on vacation recently. Bless him for that.
Another great thing about the Omni is the amount of things for children to do while they’re here. Several times a day I saw people passing out treats or inviting the kids to play games or make crafts. If Maddux could have joined in, he totally would have. I don’t think he minded. He was super impressed with the backpack they gave him.
That’s pretty much all we’ve done so far: eat, play, and sleep. We did leave the resort for breakfast this morning, though. Sorry, but I’m not spending 20 bucks each for a basic buffet. Nope. Not when we love the Island Bagel Company as much as we do. Okay, so the buffet was probably amazing, but we use any excuse we can to go grab bagels the size of a small child. They are enormous!
Right now Maddux is taking his morning nap. When he wakes up we’ll be heading to a new hotel. I couldn’t get our room again for another night, so we have to move. I’m pretty sad about it, but I’ll survive. Here’s to hoping our next digs will be as much fun. Oh, and in case anyone was wondering, I totally haven’t worked out even a little bit on this vacation. I’m savoring every single moment since I’ll be back to work soon. See y’all later!
