Okay, now onto this weekend. We had a flippin’ blast. Of course I missed Ryne and Maddux, but having some good old fashion girl time never hurts, amiright? I went to Amelia Island, Florida with my friends Logan and Cayce for the ZOOMA Florida Half Marathon. I’ll recap the actual race tomorrow. Today I’ll share everything else. As usual, I forgot to use my actual camera to document anything. Weekend by iPhone once again. I’ll grow up and use my big girl camera one day. Maybe.

We arrived at the Ritz Carlton around 6:00. We quickly ran up to the room, changed, and scarfed down these amazing strawberries. Seriously, we felt like royalty from the moment we arrived. The Ritz did an amazing job of making these lil’ country bumpkins feel special. I’m sure they could tell that we don’t get out much. ;)

After our swanky snack, we ran down to the race expo and then hit up the Cocktail/Mocktail party sponsored by Honest Tea and Barefoot Wine. I love Honest Tea, but I have to admit the wine called my name. We hung out at happy hour for a bit, and we were able to meet some amazing ladies.

We were able to capture some really stunning shots. I’m sure we didn’t embarrass ourselves at all. :)

ZOOMA Happy Hour

Around 8, our stomachs realized we hadn’t had dinner yet. I go from not hungry at all to OMG I HAVE TO EAT in about two seconds flat, so driving to find food wasn’t an option. I needed carbs. And I needed them now. Lucky for us, the hotel has ridiculously delicious bar food. We shared crab sliders and nachos the size of my suitcase. In retrospect, red wine and ten pounds of sour cream probably aren’t the best pre-race fuel. Whatever. Totally worth it.

Late Dinner at the Ritz Carlton

After dinner, we went upstairs and hopped in bed. I wish I could say we got plenty of rest, but we turned into giggly pre-teens and couldn’t stop talking. Lord help us. We try to be adults, but it just isn’t going to happen. The next morning, it was race time!

The three of us ended up splitting up when the race started, but we all ended up accomplishing our individual goals! I just wanted to run anything around 2:00 hours. Vague goal, right? I finished in 2:01:53. I’m still really happy with my time! I know a sub-2:00 hour half is achievable now! That’s definitely something to look forward to, and I’m so motivated to reach that goal now. I’ll talk more about the race tomorrow, but for now let’s chat bubbly. After crossing the finish line, we were rewarded with champagne. I’ll take it!

We then continued the celebration with some hot tubbing, sweet potato fries, and beer.

I also unknowingly ordered $7 celery sticks. Whoops. I’m a cheap ass, and that price stung a little. The server rang it up as seasonal vegetables. To be honest, I really only ordered it for the blue cheese. It came out with ranch. CURSE. Oh well.

After lunch, we lost steam. We crawled upstairs, hopped into bed, and watched a Disney movie marathon on ABC Family. I wish I was joking, but it was awesome. I will never grow up. We kept putting off taking showers because we didn’t want to miss our favorite songs. In case you were wondering, my favorite Disney songs are as follows: 1.) Part of Your World 2.) I Won’t Say I’m in Love 3.) Beauty and the Beast 4.) You’ll Be in my Heart 5.) Just Around the Riverbend. Add that to your bank of things you never wanted to know about me.

Crash and Burn

We finally forced ourselves to get up, because we had to eat. Food is good motivation. We went to a local bar/restaurant. It wasn’t anything to write home about. We probably should have asked the hotel for a recommendation, but we were blinded by hunger. After dinner, we went out dancing. Yes, you read that right. We even wore heels. I don’t know what is wrong with us.

I Read Books

We stayed out way too late, and I payed for it on the drive home. I felt and looked like death warmed over, I’m sure. I actually got less sleep than I would have at home with the baby. So much for a little rest and relaxation. I wouldn’t change a thing, though. We had so much fun! However, the best feeling in the world is waking up to this little dude. I’m glad to be home.

Morning, Maddux

How was your weekend? Run any races or spend time with friends? I hope you had a great one!
