I’m a little late typing up our weekend recap, but better late than never I suppose. This weekend we drove up to Clemson and stayed in the RV with my parents. They practically live in Clemson during football season, and it is a lot of fun to “camp” up there with them. This past weekend was Maddux’s first camping/tailgating/large crowd/loud noises experience. He was AWESOME! I can’t believe it was the same little boy that I was worried about last week. He’s still a bit grumpy at night, but he’s been much better during the day since I mentioned it Friday. I think he’s starting to get back to his normal, cheerful self. I’ve got some ideas on how to get us into a better nighttime mode soon, but I’ll mention those some other day. I’ve got football and food to talk about! 😉
Saturday morning we got up, threw our things in the car, and headed towards Clemson. Maddux’s morning nap perfectly coincided with our departure time. It worked out perfectly. When we got to the RV, it was time for lunch! We let Maddux relax outside on a blanket in the sunshine for a little bit before we put him in his stroller and headed downtown.
We ate lunch at 356, a restaurant owned by some of our parents’ friends. It is so good! Everything on the menu is amazing, and it is always a ton of fun in there.
They own 356 and Wingin’ It, the restaurant across the street. When it’s not too busy, they let you order from either restaurant. I’m only saying this to 1.) explain how awesome they are and 2.) account for the random assortment of food we had for lunch. We had hummus, sushi, and fried pickle spears. Ryne and my parents also shared a bunch of wings.
While we were at lunch, my dad took Maddux next door and bought him a hat. Babies in bucket hats are so crazy adorable! Apparently, M really needed this hat.
I found something I really needed, too. Next time, if I have a bottle or I’m no longer breastfeeding, I’m going for it! I feel like whoever made this vodka knows all my innermost thoughts. I’ve probably had dreams about this before…
Once we were sufficiently stuffed, we made our way to my dad’s friend’s tailgate. We stopped to take a few pictures on the way. My dad loved having M at his old school, so we took a ton of pictures of the little guy’s first Clemson experience.
They had so much to eat and drink, but we were way too full to take advantage of all the food! I did have a small Bloody Mary, though. By small, I mean about two shots worth, haha. I wish I could have had a little bit more! They are my favorite tailgating drink, besides beer. Maddux hit the milk a little too hard and passed out. He can’t hang.
We had tickets to go into the game, but we didn’t end up using them. Well, that’s a lie. We used them to go in and use the stadium restrooms. Maddux even had a diaper change in the Women’s bathroom. He’s so scandalous… flashing all those girls. We spent the majority of the afternoon on a hill overlooking the stadium. It was shadier, quieter, and more comfortable than the stadium would have been. Maddux enjoyed his view.
At halftime, we headed back to 356 for dinner. I didn’t get much this time because I “wasn’t hungry”, but I ended up helping Ryne eat his cheese fries. I see food, so I eat it. 😉 We were next to some rather rowdy girls while we were in there, and it didn’t phase M one bit. He took a nice little nap even with everyone screaming around him. He’s perfect… did I ever mention that? (Someone remind me I said this when he won’t sleep tonight!) Finally, we headed home. Well, after my dad decided it was way too cold for Maddux and bought him more Clemson clothes. The outfit he bought for the walk back included a tail. Totally necessary, right? We all pretty much went to bed right after getting back to the RV. No partying hard for this crew.
I do want to add, that if you ever have a chance to tailgate in Clemson, you should! While we were there, Southern Living awarded them with the Best Tailgate in the Nation… or something like that. I was half-paying attention. I love my Gamecocks, but the Tigers know how to tailgate. It’s got better scenery, set up better, and just all around nicer than most tailgating spots.
Sunday morning we woke up and had to rush back home, so we wouldn’t be late for Ryne’s grandma’s birthday party lunch. Then we headed straight from there to my Memaw’s for my cousin Cole’s party. It was a long day to say the least. This weekend I just want to SIT ON MY BUTT. And maybe run some. I probably need to do that.
Hope y’all had a great weekend! Did you do anything football related? If you’re tailgating this weekend, be sure to check out my tips for keeping yourself in check! 😉 I tried my best to follow them!
