Happy Sunday! We came home from vacation yesterday, but I already want to plan another trip. Real life is for losers. Still crossing my fingers to win the lottery one day. First order of business would be buying a beach house. No big deal.
When I last posted, I was about to get crackin’ on some crab legs. I think I ate more than anyone at the table Thursday night. Crab legs are my weakness. There was not a single veggie in sight. Can I be honest and say that I probably wouldn’t have eaten them if they were there? PS: is this not the classiest set up you’ve ever seen? Beer cans and paper plates are the new fine china and stemware.
After we put Maddux to bed, Ryne and I headed back to Cap’s on the Water. Obtaining wine and dessert were the objectives of the evening. Both were accomplished. We chose a Pine Ridge white blend, Creme Brulee, and Pineapple Coconut Cake. It was absolutely terrible. Just kidding. It was the best dessert I had the entire trip.
The view wasn’t too bad, either. It had just rained, so the outdoor section was practically empty. Aside from the water dripping on my forehead the whole time, it was pretty ideal.
The next day, we all got dressed and headed into St. Augustine for some touristy adventures. Basically, we just walked around and window shopped while trying not to sweat to death. My boy is a real trouper. We assumed he’d nap a little in the stroller, but he was way too interested in seeing the sights.
After a full afternoon of people watching, we opted for an earlier-than-usual dinner at the Acapulco Mexican Restaurant. Have you ever seen a cuter kid? He’s obsessed with chips now, by the way.
We sat on the balcony, and I swear there were hurricane-force winds out there. Side braid time. Weather, you always win.
I’m going to be honest here. I always snap a picture of Ryne after I awkwardly take pictures of myself. It makes me feel like it wasn’t as weird and self-centered on my part. Even the man in the background is embarrassed for me.
Oh, look at that, another nice view. Can I just move to the coast? Please and thank you. Plus, they have segways. Rockin’.
For dinner, I chose the Chili Rellenos with shrimp. OH. MY. GOSH. I kind of hate when people do that overly dramatic broken sentence structure to emphasize things, but I swear to you these require that. I wish I could have eaten the whole thing, but I just couldn’t man up. I blame the bowl of cheese dip I practically drank before this came out. I mean, I love cheese dip, but this was on another level.
Friday night we played Rummy 5,000 with Ryne’s family. I won. Well, I won with a score of 3,000 something. We didn’t even finish the game. Apparently, I took way too long on each turn to decide what I wanted to do. I bored them into submission and took the premature W. Maybe it was my strategy? I’ll never tell.
Saturday was full of traveling. The only thing worth noting is that I was reunited with my beloved Simone France. I received it a while ago in exchange for a review (which will be coming soon). I wanted to use it for over a month before I shared my thoughts on it, just to make sure I liked it. Well, I do. I like it enough that I had a small panic attack when I realized I left it at Maddy‘s house on accident. My face freaked out, too. Kind of sucked, since I was at the beach and didn’t want to worry about my skin. Whoops. Oh well, we’re back together and I couldn’t be happier about that.
Oh, and last night Ryne and I finally tried the wine slushies we bought in St. Augustine. We still wanted to be in vacation mode when we got home and it worked. They were awesome.
Today, we’re just planning on relaxing. We did all our laundry at the house we stayed at, so we don’t have much to do except toss everything back into the drawers. To say I’m excited about that is an understatement.
Tomorrow I go back to my classroom! One more week until I’m there full time again. I can’t believe summer break is already over. I’m sure I’ll shed a few tears soon, because I’m going to miss my baby boy so much during the week! Someone tell me this will be okay. 🙂
See y’all on Monday!
