We were in Ayden, North Carolina this weekend. We went to say goodbye to Ryne’s maternal grandmother, Louise. She passed away last week, and I am sorry Maddux didn’t get to know her better than he did. While I wish we had been traveling under different circumstances, I am glad Maddux got to spend time with some family members that he doesn’t get to see that often. And I got to take hilarious pictures of them. Perfect.
He is absolutely obsessed with his cousins. He spent the whole weekend laughing, running, and basically trying to be exactly like them. This has to go down as one of Maddux’s wildest weekends. That kid knows how to party with the best of them.
He went to the playground, where he proceeded to go nuts. Oh, and I wore a dress because I lack simple skills like dressing appropriately for different situations.
He went out to eat several times, which is way more than he gets to with us. He had some pizza, I had some pizza and beer. We ate at Basil’s in Greenville, NC and it was ridiculously good. Order the fried green tomatoes if you’re ever there. Just do it.
Then finally, on Sunday, he crashed hard on the ride home.
I think I’m just now crashing tonight. Which is why I’m on day 9 of my no-workout streak. I think it’s about time for me to get moving again. Tomorrow I have plans for a short run to ease back into things. I still want to post about this whole break thing, but I haven’t really figured out a great way to explain why I needed it. I’m sure I’ll find the words sooner or later.
I do know that I’m 100% back to viewing the workouts as something I really, really want to do. That’s always a great thing. Now let’s just hope my schedule actually allows me to get anything done. PS: Tomorrow will be our third running club practice! I would run with the kids but we’re a little short staffed in the volunteer department. Hopefully that will change soon, because it’s fun to show them that the “old lady” can actually run.
See y’all later! Have a great night and get some rest. You deserve it.
