Good morning! I’m relaxing on this amazing Presidents’ Day. It’s amazing because Ryne and I are both off, so we get to spend the whole day doing nothing. Why isn’t every weekend a long weekend?
Anyway, this weekend was also great because it was jam packed with fun stuff. We didn’t worry about a single chore. Sometimes you just need some time off from the dishes, ya know?
Friday night Ryne and I headed to Columbia to celebrate Valentine’s Day. My mom bought us a hotel room and offered to stay at our house with Maddux. The Best Mom of the Year award definitely goes to her. Our first stop was Beer World. Can you guess whose beer is whose? I swear I’m not an alcoholic.
After our little happy hour adventure, we headed back to the hotel to get ready for dinner. Can I just mention that I always forget at least one thing when I’m away from home. I forgot my straightener, but I did remember my hot rollers. Oh, but I forgot the clips for them. Yeah, I’m pretty cool like that.
Ryne remembered everything except how to look at a camera. Emo or Olan Mills? You decide.
We hopped out of a cab ride from hell and headed into Terra. Ryne had heard good things from his coworkers, so we were pretty excited. When we got there, they pretty much had nothing but steak and duck. Womp Womp. Even the fish dishes had meat in them. No biggie. I just asked the waitress to get the chef to help me out. He made a pretty decent veggie plate, so I cheered up.
Then it was time for dessert. We ordered the Pear Blondie. It tasted burnt. Like not crispy. Not toasted. Burnt. Oh well. I’m not even going to share a picture because I don’t want to embarrass the restaurant. I’m serious, it was that bad.
After we left dinner, we headed down to a few bars. We were in bed by midnight, though. We are so old. I love sleep, though. Another bonus is that we woke up in plenty of time to grab some breakfast before we went home to Maddux. This breakfast was legit. The Hilton Columbia Center knows grits. I went back for seconds of the grits and the grits only. I cut the grits out of this picture, but my second helping of them was in a huge bowl. I went to town on those suckers.
When we got home Saturday morning, I snuggled with these babies. Okay, okay. I snuggled with M first. But seriously, how beautiful are these shoes? I put them on and played in them in the living room. I’m five years old.
Then later that day MADDUX STOOD UP! What?! He’s like an adult now or something. He is growing up so fast. Make it slow down!
Another awesome package arrived as we were leaving the house to go shopping. OMG. This really happened. And yes, I ate it by the handful in the car on the way to the store.
The store we headed to was the fugly chair shop aka La Z Boy. Maddux and I let Ryne buy a recliner. Seriously that word makes me nauseous.
Nothing much happened after that. We went to bed. Pretty exciting stuff. The next morning I made eggs, listened to the best song in the history of the world, and tested out my new Saucony beauties.
It was a perfect day. Then we ate dinner at my grandparents’ house. My mom bought the best salad ever from Kroger. I will be recreating this soon. Of course I had to balance the healthy salad with cheese and butter. It’s only right.
To top off the weekend, Ryne rented Pitch Perfect for me! I’ve been wanting to see it for a while and he finally caved. It was pretty funny! I could have done without the puke, though. Yuck. Fat Amy is my new bestie.
Today we are just going to take it easy. We might get around to the chores we didn’t get to earlier, but I’m not making any promises. Oh, and since it’s Presidents’ Day, who’s your favorite president? I want to say Lincoln, but that may or may not be because he currently has a huge movie out. 😉
