I can’t even believe I’m saying this, but it might be time for me to take is easy on the sugar. I know. It makes me sad, too. But hear me out. I think I ate my body weight in candy and cake this weekend. I was pretty much just running on the stuff in order to get everything accomplished. Why was I rushing around like a madwoman? Because a certain child of mine is about to turn TWO. I don’t even want to talk about it. He’s supposed to be a squishy little baby forever.
I can honestly barely even remember what happened Friday. I think I just cleaned the entire house and decided which Stitchfix stuff to keep. I ended up sending everything back but the scarf. I like scarves for traveling, so I’m always down for more of those. I just couldn’t make up my mind on the clothes, so back it all went. It is what it is.
Oh, yeah. I also got to use power tools late into the night. Picture me jacked up on sugar, overtired, and wielding machinery. It went about as well as one would expect. Every one is lucky to still be alive.
We bought Maddux a playset for his birthday. Mostly because we have been going stir-crazy already this summer and it would be nice to just let him go nuts in the yard. Parenting 101.
We had his party this weekend even though he won’t actually turn two until next weekend. I still die every time I look at the picture we put on his invitations.
The party was a success, by the way. I didn’t go all out like last year, but we had hot dogs, juice, a playset, a train, and bubbles. Really, do kids need anything else? Exactly.
As far as gifts were concerned, Maddux loaded up on more toys with tiny pieces. My house is a disaster, and my child is 100% happy about that.
Since we were too busy to get any workouts in before the party, Ryne and I made sure to carve out some time today to get moving. He loves selfies, can’t you tell?
We went to the river and ran the stairs at the amphitheater. Way tougher than it looks.
I legitimately had a hard time deciding how to do it. One stair at a time? Two at a time? Fast? Slow? Eyes open or closed? Just kidding on the last one. Although I bet it seemed like I was doing it blindly considering I kept tripping over my feet.
We were a sweaty mess, but it was a good way to wrap up the sugar-filled weekend. Today I have to pack, because Maddux and I are headed to the beach with my parents in the morning. On Friday, we’re driving to meet Ryne in Savannah. So, I’ll be gone for a week with a toddler. Time to gather my life up! I love traveling, but man do I hate getting ready to go.
Question 1: Best workout of the weekend? I only had one, so it wins by default.
Question 2: Best dessert of the weekend? Mine is a tie between apples dipped in fruit dip (marshmallow fluff and cream cheese) and birthday cake with birthday cake ice cream (never enough birthday cake).
