This Sunday has been a bit of a slow one so far, and I’m loving it. That being said, I have a ton of stuff I need to get accomplished before bed tonight. Before I get anything done, though, I felt like wasting some time recapping what we’ve done so far this weekend. Yesterday was actually a really busy day, which is probably why I’m so slow to get moving today.
After work on Friday, I did a total of zero things. Maddux pulled another one of his “I’m going to skip a nap and then pass out in the car” tricks. This has been happening every single day for an entire week, and I have no idea why.
These naps are terrible for three reasons: 1.) I’m stuck in the car indefinitely, 2.) I’m spending a ridiculous amount of money on Starbucks iced coffee and Chick-fil-A fries, and 3.) it sucks the life out of me for the remainder of the day. By the time he wakes up, it’s pushing 5 or 6 pm. I just can’t.
We got up pretty early Saturday morning and stuffed ourselves with cinnamon, sugar, and maple syrup. Breakfast of champions, obviously. I swear we usually try to throw in some fruit or something, but our fridge is depressing.
While we were still on our sugar highs, we headed to the gym. I convinced Ryne to sign up, so that’s pretty awesome. You know what’s not awesome? Smith Machines. I hate them. I feel like a caged animal. Safety-shmafety.
I ended up basically quitting on the squats, but don’t worry, I found several other ways to murder my butt and legs. Which was fabulous because we headed to the golf course afterwards. Smart move.
Smiling through the pain. Where are we looking, though? I certainly don’t know.
I’m totally kidding about fighting through the pain. I barely got out of the cart. I posted up and did what I do best: nothing.
Things I did do: got sun on only one side of my body (it’s awesome looking), watched my son eat chicken wings like a boss, and tried not to fall asleep embarrassingly early.
Another healthy breakfast in the books, you guys. We really, really need to go grocery shopping. I also just really, really like biscuits and hash browns. It worked out.
Before church, we tried to knock out Maddux’s pictures for his birthday invitations. We got them done, but there was no way they were going to top last year’s no matter what we did. I mean, really, how could you top this hilarity?
Right now, I’m simultaneously typing this up and mentally planning his second birthday party. If you can guess the theme, I’ll give you an internet high five. If you know that boy at all, it shouldn’t be too difficult to figure out.
Speaking of the kid, he’s napping right now. The crazy rush to check things off of my to do list begins! I have some unfinished business to attend to today, y’all. I have various errands to run and then I need to literally run around the neighborhood. In an awesome turn of events, it’s storming right now. I will cry if I have to run on the treadmill. But if I don’t get a long run in soon, I’ll be paying for it come race day. Operation: Survive Barely is in full effect at this point.
Question 1: Moms, have you ever dealt with a crazy late napper? How did you survive? Okay, I’m being dramatic, but I really would like suggestions!
Question 2: What is the shortest long run you’ve ever done before a half? I’ve literally only run up to six miles as of right now. I might die.
