Friday was my first official day of summer break. I had big plans to do nothing. Of course, when does life ever care about your plans? 😉 Ryne and I ended up doing some stuff we’ve been wanting to do around the house. It was a ton of work, but I’m so glad to get some of it out of the way before Maddux’s first birthday!
First up, though, we had BOGO sushi for lunch on Friday. You have to eat two rolls if they’re buy one get one free. It’s the law.
You also have to eat dessert on vacation. I randomly grabbed these bars the other day, and I really like them. A lot. I’m guessing you could make them yourself with coconut water and fruit, but I’m on vacation so I’m not in the mood to find out.
PS: they are baby approved. PPS: baby drool does not improve their taste.
Friday night Ryne tried to teach me how to do chest flies properly. It was hilarious. My arms are like, I don’t know, ten feet long so it’s hard for me to figure out the motion for things like that. I finally got it, but it took a while.
Then I had a glass of wine to soothe my ego.
Saturday morning I had breakfast. Exciting stuff, no?
After we ate, Maddux helped me tape off the walls while Ryne mowed the lawn. Babies are not really good at this, by the way. I painted the walls the same color. It is as anti-climactic as it sounds. We just needed to cover up a ton of smudges and scratches from the day we moved in. It’s been a long time coming. The house looks clean now!
That was pretty much all I accomplished on Saturday. I didn’t even work out, because my arms and neck were so sore from painting. Clearly, I have not perfected my painting form. Then we watched cops. I got pretty sweaty. (hahaha Step Brothers.)
Sunday morning I dressed Maddux up and took his birthday invitation pictures. O-M-G. I’m sad I can’t share them yet, because it might have been the cutest thing I’ve ever seen. I designed his invitations in Photoshop and ordered through Staples. I’ll let you know how they turn out!
Then, more painting! I have some killer blisters from holding a paint roller all weekend. I press down really hard when I paint. I guess I feel like I’m being extra productive? Dumb. Oh, and we picked a color from Sherwin Williams called Dancing Green. I thought it was a sweet light green color, but “Dancing” apparently refers to a freaking rave. This color is practically radioactive. It’s growing on me, though. It’s only in our small powder room, so I can handle a small dose of nuclear sludge. The problem is going to be finding decorations that “go” with it. Help.
After I painted, I helped (aka watched) Ryne add some metal edge/border/whatever to the yard. I’ll share a picture of our front and back yard whenever we finish them, which might be when I’m 85.
Later that afternoon, I wanted to go to a yoga class but the weather was atrocious. Ryne advised me not to drive, so I hit up the back deck for some practice. A Twitter friend noticed that I could have gotten some splinters. Good point. Time to buy a yoga mat, huh?
I practiced firefly,
and upward facing dog. (quick “AD”: Join the Under Armour #whatsbeatiful challenge– you won’t regret it!!)
After eating dinner at my Memaw’s, Ryne noticed what I’d been doing wrong with pull-ups. A few tweaks later, and I was doing them on my own. By doing them on my own, I mean completing one. ONE. Still, that’s awesome for me. Thanks, RYNE! You da best!
That’s about it for the weekend. I didn’t get to do a lot of the “fun” stuff I wanted to (farmers market, run, etc) because of the horrible weather we’ve been having. Hopefully these thunderstorms clear out soon, so we can get back outside as a fam! It’s raining as I type this. I think we’re at a four inch surplus for the month or something crazy like that. SO much rain.
Today’s agenda includes: playing with M, cleaning, going to the grocery store, finally making it to the gym, and other exciting stuff. 😉 Have a great Monday!
Question: Any tips on conquering firefly? 🙂
