Happy Saturday! I didn’t get around to posting last night because, um, Downton Abby called. I know, this show is totally getting in the way of my life. Oh, and I’m now only answering to Lady Presley. Totally normal, right? Thought so.
Anyway, last night I was going to share my week in workouts. Yeah, you read that right. For the first time in a while, I actually have a week’s worth of things to share. Burning my chest off with liquid fire and then getting hit hard with a sickness pretty much ruined the past few weeks for me. But it’s all good now. I’m back! Four out of five days ain’t so bad.
Monday after school I was feeling particular uninspired, so I hopped on the treadmill and ran a preset workout. It actually worked perfectly because it kept me entertained. I never knew what was coming next, so I couldn’t get totally bored. It ended up being a mix of hills and sprints. I covered a little over 3 miles in 30 minutes. Pretty solid for a day I didn’t want to do anything! I highly recommend trying out a programmed workout on the old ‘mill.
Tuesday’s workout was even more interesting. I wanted to do something really fast and really hard (TWSS). I needed some spice up in the gym. I threw together this tabata-style workout. Mine lasted a little more than 30 minutes, because I lengthened the warm up and cool down so that I would run a mile total, half before and half after. I’m not lying when I say that my legs still feel the aftermath of this workout. Burpees are brutal. Squat jumps are sinister. It’s a good one. 😉
I originally planned on an incline interval run after putting a call out on Twitter for ideas. My sore legs had other plans. I decided to let them rest a bit and just ran. No real rhyme or reason to it.
Last night, Ryne and I worked out together. I love when he works out with me, because it always motivates me. We did a few upper body moves, including preacher curls, before I busted out some crunches and called it a night. I honestly don’t know why I do crunches. Sprints and weighted ab workouts are the only things that have ever given me abs. I just can’t break the habit. I guess burning a few extra calories can’t hurt either way.
One of the things I’ve noticed after sharing these weekly workout posts, is that I generally workout for thirty minutes or less each night. Anyone else have a thirty-minute habit? I’m wondering if I’m using the baby as an excuse for not upping my time in the gym. Hmm. Might need to work on that!
Now I’m getting ready to go for a run before we head out for a few St. Patrick’s Day activities. 🙂 Bringing my personal leprechaun along, though, means I won’t be boozing it up. Probably a good thing. That just means I get to watch everyone else drink the day away, which is always hilarious. What are your plans for the day? Any green beer going to be involved? 😉
