So, I’ll be honest here. There isn’t much room in my brain for thinking about anything outside of my impending due date. Baby brain is real. And it’s ridiculous. Right now I’m focused on making sure we are as prepared as possible to at least make it to the hospital. When I went to pack my hospital bag this time, I realized that I didn’t need half of the crap I toted along the first time. Soothing playlist? No. Printed mantras? Shut up. Five-page long birth plan? HA. You know what I wanted? A stiff drink and french fries. Kidding. Sort of. Anyway, below are the things I think you actually need to pack for the most exciting “birthday” of your life.
Your Phone, Camera, and Chargers
I feel like this one is pretty obvious. You need to be able to Instagram as much as possible. Bonus points if you Live Tweet your birth.
Decently Cute Night Gown and Robe
These two items make you look at least partially presentable when your hospital inevitably fills up with everyone you’ve ever met.
A Nursing Bra or No Bra At All
Go for comfort and ease-of-use here. That’s all I have to say about that.
Toiletries That You May or May Not Use
I think you should pack your toiletries, but I’m not going to promise you that you’ll use them. This time I’m bringing lotion and dry shampoo. The essentials.
About 3 Sizes of “Going Home Outfits” for Baby
People gifted us the cutest newborn outfits. Not one of them fit my 9-pound baby. Go ahead and pack options, because infant size predictions are extremely random guesstimates at best.
The Most Comfortable Maternity Outfit Ever
Yes, you’ll probably still need to wear maternity clothing. It’s fine. I’ll be packing maternity leggings and maternity leggings only.
Warm, Fuzzy Socks and Flip Flops
Just bring anything that makes you comfortable, really. The flip flops are for your tired, aching feet. And also for the shower, if you happen to take one.
If I may, I’d like to stick with this flip flop discussion. Last time, I packed a $2 pair of plastic flip flops for the shower. I really can’t even remember if I used them for their intended purpose, but I do remember tossing them on instead of my shoes for walking around the room (because shoes are horrible and that’s a fact). That’s when I realized my mistake – they were about as thin as a piece of poster board and twice as slippery. This time I’m packing a pair that I can wear around comfortably and safely.
- are designed to make your walk as invigorating as your yoga practice.
- give you the comfort of Savasana wherever the day may take you.
- are made from real EVA Foam yoga mats and are available in many of the Aurorae yoga mat colors.
- are eco safe and free from toxins for your ease of mind.
- include vegan leather straps, which are softly lined with our own Yogi Pose pattern.
- include the Aurorae Pose logo on the outsole for added traction.
Seriously, though. Flip flops made from yoga mat material? You know they are going to be comfortable, durable, and come in fun colors. I received purple and I absolutely love them.
The best part about these flip flops is I know that I’ll continue to use them once I leave the hospital. They will make a great addition to my gym or beach bag, for sure. And, let’s be honest, I wear flip flops 98% of the time in “real life” once it warms up, too. To say these will get great use out of them is an understatement.
Now for the fun part. Aurorae Yoga is allowing me to giveaway a second pair to one of you! Enter via the Rafflecopter below:
